I just have to ask...

i've had a couple of PM conversations after deleting comments and after talking a bit i'm hoping they understood (and judging by recent comments they get it). benign stuff is whatever but these days nothing is truly private. personally, I'm surprised I haven't been put on blast by women i've DM'd on socials though i usually go in very polite

Chainer: When women want their pictures removed from the site, what reason do they generally cite?

Do they need to provide a reason?

Even if it's not technically illegal to share publically posted pictures (I don't actually know US law regarding this),

If a woman requested to be removed from the site, surely the only ethical response would be to comply with no questions asked?

Also, a lot of them don't give a reason at all. And: remember that now image comments are hidden to unregistered users, so chances are a good number of the women who come across the site don't register and thus never see them.

In any case, I'm interested in practical ways to help get rid of dumb / low effort / useless comments for its own sake, independently of whether it would have any effect on the number of women asking to be removed, just because I think the site would be better for most users that way. I don't want to get rid of image comments altogether, because more ways for people to interact with the site is good. I'm also not a fan of collective punishments, for example: some people leave idiotic comments, so we make it so that now no one can comment.

(Sorry dashriprock, in the process of responding, I accidentally edited out the entirety of your comment from your post...)

If GWM HAS evolved into a porn site, it's because of the massive slew of dumbass comments that turn these inanimate and benign photographs into pornographic fantasies.

No. It's certainly not comments that are a "problem" in this regard. As a certified armchair psychologist I am pretty sure the male brain doesn't work that way.

  • Watches a benign photograph. -> "Hmm, intricate proportions, for certain. I shall make a note of this in my journals."
  • Reads comment to said benign photograph, "woooow, boing!". -> "By Jove, I am aroused now! Smite me down!"
  • Nope, that is not quite how it goes.

> sprt - see my response to gaz. To me, it's a matter of equity. For example, if vovin1000 is allowed to make over 53,000 completely moronic and useless comments on this site, I and others should have the freedom to respond to that without Mod interference. Seems to me that this would result in a net-good for the site, in general.

Dear Lord Farnsworth every time I read your posts your sitting on high and talking down to someone. It looks like again your itching to start an argument where there is none. Nobody... and I repeat NOBODY wants to give you the freedom to respond to someone else's image comments without Mod interference. If you don't like Vovin's 53000 posts.... don't read em. The guy is well behaved and I haven't read one single thread where he's judged someone else.

I just don't see how these comments are problem status?

That's is absolutely true.

You have been a member for 11 years with 103 posts.

You are innumerate.

I took a quick look at YOUR comments. They go downhill from here. You are part of the problem.

Nah.

Chainer does not have to answer to you, nor do we.

I never suggested anyone did. If you don't believe me, it's right there in my pos-- never mind.

You're not exactly reading the same posts that I am. Try this: post a picture of a muscular female standing next to her skinny younger brother and then wait a few days. Soon, that inanimate image will sprout comment after comment about how the girl can and should beat the living shit out of the boy. Then, as the perversion grows on itself, soon creeps will insert themselves in where the skinny boy is and begin wallowing in the fantasy themselves - - hoping and fantasizing that it is THEY who are being physically abused by this same woman.

You say that this isn't the way the male mind works and I think that I agree with you. I don't consider this to be normal behavior.

With respect, you're on a slippery slope here. In my experience aggressive kink shaming is almost always someone overcompensating for their own self hate and imagined shame for their own kinks. Not saying this is you, but it is a pattern I have noticed.

Honestly every time a woman asks to have her pictures/videos removed I immediately think about the comments and I wonder if maybe comments should require mod approval before they get posted. In the last 3 months we've lost Nadia Amy, Melissa Brodsky, and Jada Beverly among others ... and in the case of Nadia Amy most of her content on here was posted on her older IG account that's been deleted.

If would be slippery slope fallacy if it didn’t happen on every post like that. But it does. Just like posts with two differently sized women devolve eventually into “she’ll be great if she catches up with her friend” or “she’s not match for her friend” or “she doesn’t have a chance against x woman”

I just have to know...

Okay. Is it just me, or am I like REALLY, REALLY anal about what others post in the photo section? In the fora, the posts there are more to my arbitrary level of what constitutes as a passable level of perspicacity (pretty much...). But underneath the photographic camera-generated imagery, there seems to be an almost inexhaustible quantity of truly daft commentary, that I shan't abide! Please listen to me, I am very, very important.

Toodles,

Viscount Bigglesworth

Are you really a viscount? I didn't see you at the gathering.

> > > It's probably more about how women come here, are horrified by seeing hundreds of their photos posted without their consent with obscene comments underneath their photos talking about "what we would do to her" and then they demand to have their photos taken down. Remove the dumbass comments and it's a lot less horrifying.

That's fair but just unrealistic. If you have a comment section it's going to be taken over by the lowest common denominator (eg. Youtube) and if you moderate it too heavily you're just going to get people whining about free speech.

The only viable solution is disabling comments.

Counterpoint: Why do we need to read these weird comments? We hate them. The ladies hate them. What benefit is there to keeping them? None! The site's better off without comments that are essentially commentating their fap session.

It's perfectly realistic since no one aside from the offenders (who are just wasting space in the comment section by typing nothing of value). And at worst what are they going to do? Leave and stop us from viewing their silly comments? That's not much of a threat.

As for how to practically moderate it? Just a report option. And then after enough reports from different individuals, or after a review from a mod, limit the person's commenting ability. It's how any website works nowadays. If the majority of users are annoyed by another user, then that person gets a warning.

Why are the mods putting up with this judgmental ass, Farnsworth? Please explain. Unless he's related to Chainer, I can't imagine why you're allowing him to spew this kind of contempt toward the people who use your site. Enough is enough already. He's no longer contributing to a discussion, he's just being an asshole.

Chainer - it's the reference in cgsweat's comment that turns innocuous dumbass statements to consequential ones and completely negates comments by elusive1 and others. Who has elected vovin1000 as the arbiter of which photos should be highly placed as "Recently Commented" by virtue of comments such as "woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow"?

While it is wonderfully tempting to call moron posters exactly what they are, I certainly appreciate your inclination that throwing bile at the problem might just make it worse. Perhaps better would be a "thumbs up/down" counter-button which could serve as a filtering mechanism to ultimate hide posts from dumbass posters and prevent those posts from elevating photographs in the "Recently Commented" section.

Still, It would be nice to be able to have my say without consequence...

Everyone on this thread is now dumber from having listened to you rant about silly things. We award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
