the TDS struggle is real. especially for billionaires it seems
Making fun of the government/current and past Presidents has been going on for decades. It's called "freedom of speech". Get over it, snowflake.
Also funny you mention billionaires having TDS, as if the 3 or 4 richest men in the world didn't have a front row seat during the inauguration.
Prior to seeing this season's premier, I recently caught an old interview with them that was enlightening. In summary, they said they originally wanted to call it "The Mister Hanky Show" (yes, the talking poo) and that they instead called it South Park and centered their entire first season entirely on being able to feature Mister Hanky.
They might've been messing with the interviewer, but in either instance, it was a very good glimpse into their mindset and helps gives perspective on everything they've ever done.
They'll begin with an initial idea or premise and then relentlessly workshop and expand it with their trademark absurdity, then churn out the animation with how ever much time they have remaining that week. For animation, it's a breakneck pace allowing them to tackle current events (when they choose to) in real time as opposed to months afterwards.
Whatever topic they tackle, no matter their commentary, it's satirical in nature. Crude as they nearly always are, it's masterful satire.

The episode title "Sermon on the 'Mount" is a tongue in cheek double entendre referring both to the scene where Jesus addresses the citizens of the town standing on a "mount" of dirt, and that is a thinly veiled cover for their criticism of the recent acquisition plans by Skydance Media of Paramount Global whose holdings include CBS, Comedy Central, and MTV. Given the direct hand Trump personally had in pressures upon CBS leading to the senior producer of 60 Minutes retiring rather than compromise his journalistic integrity, the acquiescence by 60 Minutes since, and the cancellation of The Late Show in retaliation for his criticisms of Trump, all of which are in direct violation of the 1st amendment.

Crazy story: apparently in the late 1940s/early 1950s, due to the "Red Scare", CBS (then mostly radio and in its TV infancy) forced it's employees to sign a loyalty oath to the US government under pressure from the FBI and to a lesser extent the Truman administration.
That's what's crazy about American history: no matter how much Trump may push the envelope or have anti-republican impulses, somehow something worse has happened before.

I wish someone who uses the phrase TDS a lot would try to explain it to me. He’s the president of the United States, where I happen to live. Am I supposed to ignore him?

"TDS" aka "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is one of those silly terms that signal that someone is "Too Online" (another silly term) -- there are way too many silly terms to keep up with nowadays.
It has a dual meaning and is just a pejorative term intended to insult "the other side" (aka Rightwing vs Leftwing leanings). Generally it's used predominantly by the Far Right types to accuse anyone that bursts their bubble by expressing dislike of Trump himself, or of Trump's policies (for which they're frequently quite ignorant of -- in simplified terms, it's all about the "vibes" and "owning the Libs"). They generally aren't able to distinguish between dislike of Trump, dislike of Trump's policies, and assaults on them and their identities personally (like say for example, completely hating on South Park for doing the exact same hilarious social commentary they've consistently done for 27 years making fun of everyone and everything including political figures on both sides of the aisle as soon as instead of it being an episode making fun of Hillary's political ineptitude, it's instead an episode making fun of Trump and in their minds, them and their identities personally). It's projection. And that's where the dual meaning occurs. People with Leftwing leanings use "TDS" to refer to the above described irrationalities of the Rightwingers that could read a Truth-Social post from Trump's official account taking credit for the capitulations of CBS directly resulting in the senior producer of 60 Minutes quitting and the cancellation of The Late Show with Steven Colbert and still scream "fake news", "Trump's account was hacked", and TDS.
I linked to the TDS definitions pages on Urban Dictionary above. All the entries I scanned through were written by Rightwingers and perfectly demonstrate their projection. Maybe there are descriptions in the opposite direction on TDS as used by Leftwingers, but I have better things to do than scan through the 8 pages worth of Urban Dictionary entries written by Rightwingers regurgitating the same tired delusions. If you don't want to take my word for it, you can find Leftwingers on Political Twitter and (nowadays moreso) on Political Blue Sky that use TDS to describe the mindless fealty of certain Rightwingers. We're 10+ years deep into this erosion of our country and unfortunately there's no indication that it won't continue it's current downward spiraling trajectory.
South Park has always been bold and irreverent, using humor to "stir the pot" and "poke the bear", and somehow doing so without timid network execs impeding them in the 27 years they've been on the air.
They've always been funny and have always given their take on current events.
The season 27 premiere aired (2 days ago) on July 23, 2025.
I HAVE NEVER LAUGHED HARDER at anything I've seen them do and if you haven't already seen it, I strongly recommend doing so (as per usual with every episode, "viewer discretion is advised").
