weird intersection of worlds, probably the most wide notoriety Gene will get beyond the work that he's known for. pretty shitty though.
wish meta would do that if i asked. i changed my IG handle from an alltimer to something pretty good and the name has been on a dead account for a decade now. wish i hadn't changed it.

Anyone else thinks Twitter is a huge pain in the ass. a few years ago i liked it since it had nudity unlike Instagram. but now they force you to log in but they banned me years ago because for some reason they thought i was a spam bot. now i can use sotwe to view Twitter posts but elon wants to get rid of it too.
it's a very popular platform with artists and more "open" Fbbs but it sucks .i guess it's better than Instagram .but the artists really have better alternatives. Also while Twitter allows nudity they still ban a lot of people for minor things. elon said he would not do this but things are just as bad or worse as before he bought it .and more and more people get banned.

I don't understand the rebrand to X, which puts me on the same page as basically literally everyone else besides Musk.
I’m guessing it has something to do with Elon’s history with PayPal since the domain “x.com” existed beforehand I’m not sure. But yeah I will never know why he decided to get rid of twitter’s brand recognizability for something like that.

Looks like. He snatched up the x.coke domain years ago and wanted to use that but people found it risky. There’s a write up about it somewhere. “X is where the treasure is on a pirate map people will see that” the helllll

I remember in the past that celebrities would just buy accounts from people just for the name. Large payouts. In Gene's case, it's kind of in poor taste that they haven't made him an offer. Of course they can just do what they want, but little good deeds like that would go a long way with improving the public's perception of Elon and the now deceased Twitter platform.
He wanted to call Paypal x but back in the 90s people took themselves more seriously so he couldn't. but these days it's not a big deal.

Well first of all that is Indonesia they are over 100 years behind the west when it comes to society .and secondly they didn't ban it because of the name but because there is a lot of uncensored porn on there. that is probably why most mainstream platforms like Instagram and YouTube don't have porn. because they want to be in as many countries as possible so they earn more money.
Elon is a 16 year old 4chan edgelord in the body of a 50-something billionaire. He so desperately wants to be seen as cool and funny but just looks pathetic. It’s embarrassing to see how many people thought he was a real life Tony Stark. He probably didn’t offer Gene money because he knew that the site doesn’t have much life left.
Kind of interesting news... with the Twitter rebrand to "X," there was a user who had the @X handle since 2007. That user is Gene X. Hwang, a photographer whose work is known to many of us in the GWM community.
