Or that doesn't matter at all and you'd merge anything with clear similarities?
It doesn't matter whether you took the screenshot, or got it from someplace, for the merge. The only way I could see arguing for keeping the still image is if it is much higher quality than the video and shows detail the video doesn't.
It is well. I just upload for the fun of it. It ain't a competition. I just discovered 3 of my uploads were merged after each garnering over 500+ likes but it is what it is, right.๐๐๐๐๐

Seems a bit hypocritical seeing as you uploaded a version of this post https://www.girlswithmuscle.com/2885432/ about 3-4 days after I originally did?

For what it's worth, I reversed it so that the new one was merged into the old one here. I looked at Insta itself and also Snapinsta, and the largest original version appears to be 2532 x 3370, and not the even larger size that was uploaded today.
In general, we prefer the original sizes.
And also, just a reminder for the nth time: We have a variety of criteria for deciding to merge images. Obviously when they're identical, but also if we deem that two images are not identical but similar. Sometimes keeping two, slightly different images doesn't add anything to the site, vs. having one that can represent the both of them. The more similar they are, the more likely this is to happen. It's also more likely to happen if the model has a tendency of posting a lot of similar content, or already has a lot of content on GWM.
I had uploaded the linked image below about 2 days ago, I am confused as to why I had the upload taken away.

Your upload was 720 x 1280; the retained version is higher resolution (1080 x 1920).

Thanks for the response

Even though what asianfitnessfan said is correct, and this is likely why it was merged the way it was, I did actually reverse it because I think yours is higher quality despite being smaller resolution.
And this was taken away from me (aka being targeted despite following the rules) because...
yours:

vs the kept one:
You're pretty experienced in the way of merges given all your posting here, so surely you can at least hazard a guess as to why it was merged the way it was?
Two different pictures were merged, the other one that's now lost featured double biceps flex. Can you please restore the other picture, or at least make it so that I can save it.
"Your upload 2881562 has been merged into duplicate 2882921."

They were both your uploads. It could have been rejected for โtoo many similar imagesโ. If you donโt like the cut we make then donโt upload many similar variants of the same image.
I can reverse the merge, but understand what you are risking when you are uploading variants of the same photo.

But they're not the same image. I upload thousands of images, sometimes they might be similar, but they're never the same. I have no insight in how you decide what stays, and what gets removed.
In that case we can reject one of the images with โtoo many similar imagesโ. Just be more selective with what you upload, and you wonโt need to depend on our judgment for rejection.
Just check this thread for the level of annoyance this behaviour is: https://www.girlswithmuscle.com/forum/thread/...
My post got merged into a low quality repost of both my post and this post which is also still up?
Fixed, I'm guessing the mod wasn't aware the rest of the long version was up as a separate video.

Watching the video, I now realize that It is quite likely that she did a screenshot of the reel. It feels quite similar to some frames on the reel. I realized after I saw the merger.
But it did catch me by surprise. Is It cause maybe you thought I did the screenshot myself? (If that's What she did) Or that doesn't matter at all and you'd merge anything with clear similarities?
I don't know, a video and a photo aren't really the same, at least for me. So I want to know What the lines are.
I did see the reel posted, but IDK, I took her storie and posted It as well.
To be fair, I do realize my "complaints" tend to be related to redundance, so maybe it's just me hahaha.
Maybe there IS also a quality issues? Doesn't really happen to me with Esma, but It does with others. Even if I clearly upload first (or so I think, since we don't see the queue). If that's the case, what's the better way to download from IG or Tiktok normally?
