My medium term plans may be something like:
- Put a mod control on individual threads that lets us set them to not show up on the front page, which would be applied to political threads
- As an experiment, start a Politics section, as mentioned above... maybe have it only show up for people with at least 5 forum posts, and give mods the ability to hide that section for individual users who have shown they can't handle it.
Currently though I'm working on the tag hierarchy system which I consider a lot more important.
Congratulations on completing the tag system. I'm sure you'll be spending time organizing the tag hierarchy and fixing any remaining bugs, but what are your plans going forward? The last time you posted a To-Do list was 2010.
Your idea of creating a dedicated politics section and adding controls to help the mods, is that next, or buried deep under higher (or earlier) priorities?

That said it's nice that almost all of the "to-do" there is in fact done.

Next thing on my plate is putting in a button to display more notifications. I still need the notifications to be abbreviated on the initial page load for performance reasons, but pressing the button will show you more notifications like how it was before I truncated the list a few weeks ago.
Maybe the politics thing is after that? Not sure. I do kind of want to do it but many other hypothetical site enhancements would be higher priority, so it depends if anything comes up.

In whatever order you do the politics thing, I've had some ideas stewing since prior to this thread, and more since. I've been chipping away at it as I have time but am still researching and will need to condense my notes into something easily digestible. Depending how long that takes me, you might code everything and launch first, or it might help contribute in the interim. You might review and decide to veto it outright. If nothing else, it would be food for thought.
I promise it wasn't an attempt to 'win', it was just an interesting read I came across this afternoon. Shared because trade came up several times.
