Hannah Hussein | "What STEROIDS did to my body"

Aug 07, 2025 - permalink

I get not being able to admit something for legal or sponsorship reasons. But we've lived through a few steroid scandals in a few sports. We know how the public reacts to people like Roger Clemens or Barry Bonds who go very far out of their way to lie vs people who outright admit and apologize for it like Andy Pettitte or even people who even have a coy response about it like David Ortiz.

It might be ego. Lifters thinking that anyone calling out PED usage is discrediting their hard work. It's stupid, especially because it's no one's business if somebody uses. But in that case, they shouldn't even say anything about it.

"Is ENHANCED Bodybuilding Right For You?"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt9X8tjQOpU

It just came out, haven't watched yet. I did notice an interesting comment though under the vid:

I can just imagine every schmoe here quoting Lloyd Christmas... "So you're sayin there's a chance!"

I'm a bodybuilder (not quite a pro, but maybe next Spring) and a PED user of about 4 years. I love them. Couple of thoughts on Hannah's POV:

1) I'm glad that she's open about her use. Would be nice for more athletes - male and female - to be more forthcoming.

2) Steroids are INCREDIBLY widespread and easy to get. It's ridiculous these days. The sports industry would like you to believe that their use is a rare outlier. But it is very much the standard.

3) They can be pretty safe if you have a good source and you are responsible with them. Plenty of athletes are on them for decades. They aren't good for your health, but they also don't take off 30 years or something.

4) The bodybuilders who die from PED's are often using extreme amounts (Rich Piana) or suffering cardiac arrest from insanely low bodyfat and electrolyte levels during contest prep.

5) This might be a controversial take, but something's up with Hannah.

She has a very deep voice and a lot of side effects. But she doesn't have the muscle or the physique to back it up. She's not a champion and she's more of a professional sex worker. Which is fine of course (I love sex workers!), but I get the impression that she uses more gear than needed as a crutch to compensate for suboptimal training and nutrition. Lots of bodybuilders do. But I suspect that most girls could achieve her physique with less PED's and less sides. So Hannah's experiences aren't totally instructive.

I don't know if you saw her first vid (linked in the original post), but she mentions that her very first coach put her on tren. So yeah she nose dived into some harsh shit right off the bat.

I sent a link with her video which she detailed what she used to a few girls I know. Their reactions were as follows: Step sister- recreational powerlifter and bodybuilder. Currently thinking about a small cycle of anavar in the next year. Her reaction was shock. Firstly at what Hannah used and secondly how unimpressiveher physique is considering what she used.

Friend 1 - Former powerlifter, does MMA and powerbuilding training. Did use anavar in her late teens/early twenties. Again, stunned by what Hannah used. Also unimpressed with her physique

Friend 2 - Powerlifter turned bodybuilder. Has used anavar, hgh, primo and deca all in small amounts. Not actually surprised with Hannah's use. Actually wondered if she really used what she claimed as she doesn't look that special.

Friend 3- bodybuilder - long time steroid user and has used all the compounds Hannah has claimed to have used. Not surprised in the slightest and infact reckons it's pretty common for some girls to jump straight into the hard stuff. Disturbingly she made the comment that she's had girls as young as 16 ask her for Tren, winstrol, Deca etc. She also thought Hannah is either stretching the truth, used tiny amounts, or simply didn't train hard while on gear.

She was definitely bigger a few years ago. She may have already mentioned this (I don't remember), but to me it looks like she's semi-retired... meaning she probably still lifts enough to minimize her loss of gains, and not with the intent of ever competing again (she doesn't seem to be interested).

more gear = higher chance of developing a deeper voice?

I was under the impression that this all boils down to genetics at the end of the day, at least that's what I was told.

In the first video she said she was aiming to compete at the end of this year, I think. 🤔

I don't remember if she did. I'm mostly speculating in order to address the criticisms from a couple of others earlier. If she is still planning to compete, then I doubt it will be in the bodybuilding category (again, speculating).

Her journey started over a decade ago. So, just because her physique isn't impressive right now doesn't mean it's always been like this. It seems she's started taking the hard stuff early on, continued for many years, and now she's semi done and no longer training like she used to. She just happens to be stuck with the side effects.

Yes, in general, but it depends on the type of gear, and the genetics of the athlete. Some women have naturally deeper voices than others even without gear.

In terms of Hannah's claimed usage vs her historic physique, I'll also agree that the two are out of line. Even at her biggest, she probably could have achieved that with pretty modest gear.

Now, I don't know Hannah, but I know quite a few "gear heads" in my gym.. mostly men. Their diet sucks. Their training dedication is meh. They drink a lot of alcohol. Some are dealing with depression and mental illness. They use enough PED's to still be very muscular and lean, but their side effects are insane, and ultimately, they're not winning any contests. So they have an unremarkable build with a lot of side effects and health problems.

I'll stress again.. I don't know if this is Hannah's situation, but could be a explanation.

This is what my friends and I all thought. Yes she looked pretty decent, but no where near what you would expect given her cycles.

Agreed, that's really well said. Pearl is absolute trash, and Hannah came back with a super mature and honest take.

I've met a lot of FBB's and I'd say that the vast majority share this sentiment. They do it for themselves. Their politics and "feminism" will vary just as much as the overall population of women does. Being really muscular is definitely counterculture, but it's not inherently political.

IIRC Pearl is a right wing commentator (she's had Andrew Tate on) so she's obviously looking to create a "female bodybuilding is feminism" take that will get conservatives riled up

Right wing assholes love bashing female athletes more than anything. Of course bodybuilders and other counter-culture women are easy targets, but they're also willing to ridicule girls in basketball, tennis, soccer.. you name it.

In fact, I'd say that the only female athletes that right wing ghouls WON'T criticize is gymnasts. Weirdly, women's gymnastics is also far more popular than mens. It's the only sport where we can say that. I wonder why that is?

I have been reading comments here saying that it is possible she could have achieved her physique without using as much gear as she did, along with speculation about her diet and training. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt that the training and nutrition is pretty solid (she sounds like someone who is dialed in at whatever program her coaches give her, whether that be gear, training, recovery and nutrition.) I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that training and nutrition aren't subpar by any means.

That being said, I wonder if her genetics make her not as respondent to gear as others. When you reach a professional/elite level in any sport, but especially bodybuilding and strength sports, genetics tend to be the differential. It's hard to say how her genetics are because she doesn't really have any pictures, or from what I understand, did any solid training before hopping on gear. I wonder if she is simply not a good responder to gear, or if jumping into reckless cycles right from the beginning permanently disrupted her ability to progress on lower amounts/less harsh compounds.

Also, Pearl sucks.

What it Really Took to Get my Pro Card/where I am now

https://youtu.be/SjNMcPKxxuI

Kind of a slideshow of short clips of her at various stages of contest prep. No talking in this one, just text telling you what she was eating, her training, and her cycle. She's still experimenting with video styles I guess, but I can't complain about all the posing clips in it. 😉

Wow that was a really, really well done video. In terms of content. Clearly edited not by a professional editor, but the message was well conveyed. So glad she's able to share and I bet it's therapeutic for her seeing all the support she's getting. I hope more women with similar regrets also come out to warn any females thinking about this about the dangers.

This is the most detailed video I've ever seen from a female bodybuilder. Literally exact amounts of different types of gear, down to the mg.

Honest and great video. I really like Hannah a lot.

From the sole viewpoint of competitive bodybuilding... I don't think she's made for it. Genetics might play a role. But I don't think her heart is into it. Really exceptional female bodybuilders are super driven, and they seem to be motivated by the suffering and sacrifice.

Which isn't a dig at Hannah at all.. this life isn't for everyone and there's certainly very little reward or recognition in the formal competition side for women. It's basically a sham.

She looks happier now. Honestly I think the girls who just lift and enjoy their bodies and interact with their fans and sell their image as influencers (sexual or not) are the happiest ones in this scene.

> > No I'm not, loser. That's why I call them out. The ones who want women to turn into ugly men, women to go way too far with roids. My point is that this site is full of those extreme people, whereas real life isn't.

That's not what a schmoe is.

According to Wikipedia, "In bodybuilding culture, 'schmoe' refers to a less muscular individual who pays bodybuilders for private posing sessions, wrestling, or even prostitution. This term, sometimes spelled 'schmuck,' is a pejorative used to describe someone who takes advantage of bodybuilders for their own gratification."

I wonder how many of these fbbs go all the way as far as getting to 3rd base, etc. I would also say about 60% of them go all the way. No wonder they charge so much.
