As someone who never watched the original Gladiators, are there any majority strength/power based challenges? From skimming through the challenges in this episode it seems like most of them were more agility/balance focused as much as anything.
Nah, would be pointless given every contender is at least 75% smaller than the gladiator. You sometimes see a contender on Hang Tough (the swinging rings thingy) get snared by the gladiator but manage to keep their grip on the ring til the whistle goes despite having to hold their own weight plus a wriggling/bucking gladiator too. I think years and years ago there was some sort of one-on-one tug'war OR pushing a pole instead of a rope round but it was dull as ditchwater and soon got binned. I suppose they need things to be mobile, kinetic and dynamic cos static stuff looks dull.
I remember the original US and Uk versions well, I watched a few bits of it this time , fast forwarding to the female rounds, be honest I got a bit bored with it. The father and son presenters is a mistake.
Bit of muscle in the brief intro sections I suppose but then they are often padded up for safety in the rounds. There is anyways the chance one of the contestants will be a bit buff as well.
A bit of muscle in the mainstream usually helps but the tired old regurgitated 90s format isn't getting me too excited these days.
I found this:

Diamond arm wrestles the host, then lifts him up and squats him!
Does anyone have any updates of any other TV appearances they've made? Apparently they've been interviewed quite a lot.
