im interested if anyone has heard any tea RE: size--like last year when we caught wind that Andrea was asked to tone down size/conditioning for that show.

clearly i think she's an overwhelming favorite, though Angie has put on some good size this off season and has fantastic stage presence.

those two and Helle are the favorites to podium at the moment.

As for Natalia, Julia, and Sherry, NONE of them were on last years rosters, and they'll likely have to contend with returns from Michaela Aycock who has been working on her legs hard. Also Theresa Ivancik if she's able to make it back.

4th, 5th, and 9th place from last year are not in this years chances so there's opportunity for movement. i maybe give it 50/50 that one of the three posted (aside from the top 3 last year) will make a splash and wind up placing. only issue at the moment is that we don't have a full field yet and most of them are just starting prep.

I think it comes down to Andrea and Natalia. I would have included Helle but she told me she's not competing this year at the O so its between them.

I'm hoping Kristina Mendoza can at least qualify and make the top five.

No matter Kristina Mendoza's conditioning and no matter she already is my Ms Olympia I realize it's more realistic that Andrea Shaw wins yet another time and that Kristina Mendoza finish top five. IFBB very seldom de-throne a titleholder.

Despite the fanboy comments, Kristina isn’t placing top 5 unless the number of contestants was at 5. Her conditioning is always off and she still doesn’t have the mass to place against the big girls.

When Sarah Villegas listened to judges to get softer, she lost her title. I can see that happening with Andrea too if she doesnt come super shredded and super big as she was in earlier comps. It felt like Angie really did make her run for her money. Natalia has size, will prob be the biggest on the stage, but I don't think she has conditioning like Angie's. Looks like it all comes to conditioning. Julie needs more lines in lower body. Exception is Michelle who's sadly got bad genetics for calves. For me she is the real bodybuilder cuz we can really see her putting blood, sweat and tears in her preps and offseasons. Ofc that can be everyone else but I would really want her to at least do better than she did in previous comps.

yeah, as we saw, size isn't everything, since bigger girls finished behind Angie (or at least they appeared more massive in some areas).

im pulling for Michaela to podium, at the very least for the sake of her health. reportedly she was not thrilled with her placing this past year (6th) though 4th and 5th are now retired or not competing. Placing outside the top 5 for a third year would be tough for her--imagine looking like she does and then finding out that she hasn't truly trained upper body in like two years so she could bring her legs up (just enough to maintain her size). i honestly wish there was more window into her methods and training, because between 2021 and 2022 and now 2023 it seems like she's reportedly not working upper body as hard but her lats continued to expand. the changes to her quads are noticeable, but the calves are what they are.

Nah Sarah lost cause she got cocky and came in light while Natalia came in super shredded and better conditioned

Michaela only post clips of her working the lower body of late. I can imagine she's doing a lot of intense work on her upper body because it shows in these 3x/week clips she posts on her IG. Her calves are looking thicker. So far, she has been healthy an unimpeded unlike she was last year with various issues. She looks primed for a Top 5 finish this year but there remains several months of hard training before Olympia '23. Michaela already has the upper body thickness and hopefully, she'll post more workouts involving her upper body.

I honestly think she’s doing the bare minimum for upper body. If she continued to train it the way she had been she would for sure look wildly jacked, more than she does now.

She still needs ti qualify and that is not a guarantee. Idk what shoe she has planned but as we saw from Emily Renee in WPD she missed out on qualifying because she placed second behind Natalia twice and had to do a third show to get a win. For her it would suck if someone came to do a tune up or get cash and win.

It’s been ages since she posted regular upper training. I think she also removed the topless but censored post she has up a few weeks ago. And that was likely wildly out of her comfort zone. I wonder why she even posted it

Fellas, if Anastasia Leonova qualifies for the Olympia, how well do you think she would place?

Jun 21, 2023 - permalink

It’s hard to say, Anastasia is on the shorter side of the field at 5’0” and might not have a favourable match up with some of the taller women.

so i guess we do have an update now--

Mayla Ash punches her card to the Olympia with a win at the Atlanta Pro--Michaela Aycock takes second.

UPdates I got from here: https://fitnessvolt.com/2023-lenda-murray-atl...

BUt the comment that stood out for me was that the writer thought Ash's lower body detail took her all the way, similar to what a user posted on Michaela's stage routine here that her upper legs look as if they had lost a bit of definition.

Anyways, unclear yet what her plan moving forward is, sinc ea few of us have her inside the top 4 if she made it, but she hasn't yet posted anything about doing another show to pick up a qualification since they can no longer qualify on points for WBB

That’s MUCH better than what she came in last show. I think she nailed it

I'm pulling for Selyka myself. She won her last show but I don't know if she got her pro card or qualified for this year's Ms. O

Aycock footage.

Selyka's been looking incredible, too. I'm waiting for her Tampa Pro video.
