Complaints that girls make about muscle pics share

Jul 05, 2021 - edited Jul 05, 2021 - permalink

I'm happy to hear that. I hope you don't have to do any more of that, but there are a lot of holier-than-thou white knights out there.

The realities are:

There are way too many comments on this site to police everything. If you want to play mod in your spare time you are free to report this fa you might feel are offensive. That’s what the report button is for (and we’d appreciate it because any extra eyes on that garbage are welcome)

The reason this discussion is happening at all is because there is a certain segment of this “community” that has zero filter and will comment things as they please here an elsewhere, and then come on here an complain that the girls account is private and her photos are gone from the site because she got a few too many dms. So that’s what we are trying to prevent.

I do recognize the double standard of the reverse situation. If we were a bunch of women ogling guys we would be encouraged to do so. However that is not the case. The best we can do is try to ward off the worst of the comments. If there weren’t any creepy questions there would be no blacklist.

Again we’re not here to play mind police. But keep the eggplant emoji stuff in your head and not published in the ether 🤷🏾‍♂️ Yknow?

I just literally banned someone for that so.

For reference, this was a user who commented "Somebody kill him. PLEASE." on a picture with a guy in it.

I do want to say with some measure of irony that the IG account that has been posting the worst of the comments and DMs that men leave on weightlifters/fit women’s social media has been suspended. Personally I wonder how many marriages or relationships it’s ruined because they messaged somebody’s significant other with receipts.

What does it say about a person who comes on a forum like this to complain about rude comments about women by making rude comments about men? Where are you moderators when guys like Trunchbull up above are making rude, stereotypical, sexist, dumb ass comments about men? You can make your point without the gratuitous "men are pigs" bullshit. I can get my fill of that from the mainstream media, I don't need to see that here too.

Oh my, your ears are so delicate? You know, women ate that kind of bullshit from men for centuries. So yes, it is clear they are much more trained to do that than you are, but that would not mean they have to go on.

I'm not interested in a history lesson. What happened in the past has been used far too often as cover for bashing men today. There's no excuse for it, especially on a site where we're 99% men. Is that supposed to "correct" history? What a bunch of nonsense.

I'm also not interested in grade school taunting, so stop with that. We're all adults here, or so I'd like to believe. I'm not so sure some days.

Comments are hidden from non-users, yes? People are too thin-skinned. A post on socials receives tens of thousands of likes: your body is "goals," but an occasional person does not love your shoulders and thinks they're "manly." So what? I occasionally have an aggrieved student posting objectively false information on RateMyProfessor. I also have students posting undeserved praise, which is embarrassing. That's the nature of voluntary response -- extreme views. If I bother to check, a negative review could bother me, but I wouldn't ask to have it removed.

The RateMyProfessor site used to have a chili pepper students could award if their instructor was "hot." This made a lot of female colleagues understandably uncomfortable (it also gave some people -- male and female -- a much-needed and self-described "ego boost"). As a society, I think we make progress when we do not judge people by their looks when appearance is irrelevant.

For a site such as this, it's just the way it goes: Pictures are rated on appearance. Most comments are full of praise. I had a comment recently deleted because I mentioned the shaved-on-one-side style is also known as "the mental illness haircut." Not very nice, but kinda funny. "Somebody kill him. PLEASE." I think that's hilarious -- unless it's serious. Regardless, it needs to be deleted. There's a difference between making a comment to someone, and making a comment that subject seeks out. Criticism can be devastating. Writer-directors work for years to get a movie made, and then critics tear it to shreds.

No, we're supposed to be better. "He who does not learn from the past is condemned to repeat it." Besides, being a man is a lot more fun nowadays if you drop all the toxic bits.

Agreed. There's nothing inherently sexual about the images on this site. I personally visit to just admire and applaud the hardwork of these amazing athletes, and discuss protein powder and training regimes. Anyone who finds these images titillating in the least is a certified pervert.

My 2 cents: Finding the marvelous structure of females asses and legs "tilting" or arousing does not qualify one as a pervert. Fact. It is inherently natural for heterosexual males to be attracted to big and thick legs and asses. Also there are lots of Girls here posting pics with the desire of being sexualized. This topic is complex to say the least.

I deleted the insults above. Posts like that are worthless and I would appreciate it if you didn't waste your time typing them nor mine having to read and delete them.

Anyway, I think several things are true at the same time:

  1. There is nothing wrong with an attraction to muscular women.
  2. Only a very small portion of GWM users send tactless messages to women, but this could still mean hundreds of people. The rest of the userbase is not at fault for this.
  3. Everyone else would be better off if these people did not send messages to women, both the women and also other GWM users.
  4. If you choose to have a public social media presence with a fanbase/following, you should probably expect to receive some unwanted attention.
  5. That said, it is creepy when the unwanted attention actually happens, and even more so when it happens from many people at once.

I see people arguing points 1 and 4, and others counter with 3 and 5, but these things don't contradict each other. What I just want is for people to stop sending tactless messages.

I read my "8 hours ago message", and i can't find insults. Anyhow, sorry for that.

I looked up these girls thinking they'd be hot tub streamers but it looks like they just play videos games. They don't seem like the stream for attention types. I watched a lot more of deadleii than I was expecting since I don't like MMOs but she seemed fun. It was like a hangout with friends.

Considering the pics on here look like screencaps from streams it probably feels like some creep is taking pictures of you while you play basketball at the park everyday. What was once fun being the buff girl with your friends probably just feels creepy now with all this unwanted attention. I wouldn't be surprised if these girls get stalkers. Even if they can't do anything about it, it doesn't mean they have to like it.

Not my primary intent to creat discord between some members, although discord in groups of many should be inevitable lol.

I was just willing how to keep pics of girls like deadleii on this space, which is public indeed. Politeness will always help of course, but maybe this case in particular is not any members fault. If she feels uncomfortable seeing her muscle pics shared in a dedicated site (even though she did so in her personal Instagram), so this may be enough for her to complain about it. Maybe she is okay flexing to her fan base, but not seeing this go abroad. Being the case, we just have to move on.

Precisely!

Just want to preface this by saying how much I enjoy this site and appreciate the work that everyone does here.

I guess that the main issues are:

1) Many images are taken from Instagram and other platforms. The girls chose to upload them there. They didn't choose to upload them here.

2) Girls can control the comments on their IG posts. They have no control (or little control) here

3) This site is advertising supported. They might feel that their content is being stolen to sell views and clicks on GWM, with no acknowledgement or compensation

4) Lots of female bodybuilders enjoy sexual attention and actively court it. Many do not. Problem is: pretty much every pic is only seen through a sexual lens here. This site is a lot like wikifeet in that way.

I'm not really sure what the solution is, but I wouldn't be surprised if the mods have to turn off comments entirely. I imagine that's most of the problem. If there's enough IP grievances from girls or paysites, I can imagine some kind of Pornhub-like scenario where photographs have to be uploaded by the models themselves, and only them. This will then become one huge repository of Brandi Mae photos, but I guess that there's worse things than that :-)

Comments are private now, only logged in users can see them.

With such a scenario, it would be better if the photos were visible only to registered users. GWM would be the new Saradas forum, let's pray that never happens!

Attention is currency for women, whether it's due to the culture or their inherent psychological makeup.

Images of them on a platform they don't know about or have no control over is taking some of that power away. They like being looked at in the gym or on Instagram by socially approved people whose opinions they value, but anonymous guys on a softcore site somewhere on the internet might be seen as insulting.

LOL thank you for being a living example of why some girls might not want their images to be posted here. Really.... attention is part of their "inherent psychological makeup?"
