How Exactly Do Steroids Work When Putting On Muscle?

5 days ago - permalink

Specifically:

  1. If a woman takes steroids, does it push her past her normal potential, or does she just reach her normal potential much quicker. If a woman has 16 inch biceps, do steroids give her that potential, or is it just accelerating potential she otherwise has naturally?

  2. When people lose a lot of weight quickly, it causes a lot of loose skin and distorted physiques. If a woman comes off steroids and sheds muscle size, why doesn't the same thing happen, especially after the skin expanded?

Honestly you should just ask AI for a rundown of all this.

  1. Compared to men, women have far less natural potential for muscle growth. They also naturally maintain a much higher degree of bodyfat (called essential fat).

The bodybuilder look is a combination of muscular hypertrophy and leaner-than-average conditioning. Both are exceptionally difficult for a woman to achieve naturally.

I can confidently say that basically no woman ever has built 16" biceps of pure muscle naturally. Very few have achieved that even with heavy enhancement.

If you want to see what women can achieve naturally with optimal diet and training and genetics, then check out an FBB contest in Japan. That's about as good as it gets. Anything significantly bigger is definitely enhanced.

  1. Compared to an obese person, a bodybuilder who comes off steroids doesn't lose weight as quickly or as drastically. Like the biggest hugest male BBer might be 325lb, and those are rookie numbers for the average morbidly obese person in the USA.

The question was specific enough I didn't think AI could answer it right.

This is actually exactly the kind of question AI is good with

Steroids allow you to achieve things you could not otherwise achieve naturally.

Helps with increased protein synthesis allowing you to recover faster and push harder. Also increases metabolism allowing you to burn fat easier.

The only way a woman is going to get 16 inch biceps naturally is if they are an exceptionally fat individual. A natty woman who trains heavy consistently and has her nutrition perfectly dialed down for 7 years is never going to get arms the size and definition of Katie Lee's.

One of the biggest myths behind steroid use is that "Oh, steroid users are taking the easy way out because they don't want to work as hard: you can get as muscular/fit as them if you work hard enough." The truth is that you cannot. Steroid users can build more muscle while staying lean, and the recovery that steroids give can let you train harder and longer. You can try to keep up with a steroid user's regime in the gym, but while they will be making gains, you will be regressing because you aren't getting the recovery that a natural athlete needs, and in a worst-case scenario, you are more suceptible to injury which will further hinder your gains.

Also, before someone inevitably chimes in with a "Oh so you're saying women can't build muscle." I am not saying that at all. Women can and do build muscle without using PEDs. But their gains are far, far more modest than the women that we see here. They would probably not have physiques that would get a lot of attention when compared to even the smaller women here.

I don’t know too much detail, but from what I’ve seen, a guy on YT named Coach Kolton seems to know the details pretty well. He has a clear anti-steroid stance, especially for younger people, but he is explains the ins and outs well, imo.

This is my favorite example of natty girls. The "Muscle Girls" bar in Tokyo.

Steroids are really hard to come by in Japan (unlike, lol, in South Korea). Outside of serious IFBB competitors, you're really not going to see juiced people there. I think that the girls in this video are great examples of what natural female strength athletes can achieve:

Now admittedly, you'll probably see more natural muscle on select black, white, and latino girls. Genetics plays a big role. But you're not going to see the large muscles and lean bodyfat percentage of the vast majority of women on this site. It's just not naturally possible for the vast majority of women.

That said, I'll maintain that steroids are awesome and I love them and if you're thinking about trying them, then freaking do it. There's more knowledge and consistency than ever before and it's very possible do them in an objectively pretty safe way.

In some way steroids make it far easier for people to build muscle, especially women. Look at the testimonials of transgender men, for example. Many of them say that prior to taking testosterone they weren't able to do a single pull-up or even push-ups, but after a few months of taking testosterone they suddenly realized they could do pull-ups. In some cases they don't even workout, it's just hormones doing the work.

When someone experiences a boost in strength like that they get motivated to workout. Same thing happened to a guy on IG who took trenbolone without exercising just to see if he would recomp while doing nothing, i.e. not taking care of his diet or exercising (he did).

If you want to see what women are naturally capable of I suggest you take a look at three types of women: (1) the women at your local commercial gym; (2) pictures of female acrobats like Luisita Leers and Laverie Vallee who performed in circuses prior to the synthesis of testosterone in the 1930s; (3) the "after" pictures in the thread "reverse transformations, or when FBBs downsize". In those cases the women are still working out but they have stopped taking PEDs. They look much closer to women in (1) and (2).
