Favourite button functionality

As a new user, the way the favourite button dissappears after clicking +1 confused me. It should still be possible imo to click favourite after you have +1. Having to remove +1 just to re-add it again with favourite seems counter intuitive.

Well:

1. It's not something I expect people to do very much
2. If it were done the way you suggest then clicking "Favorite" would cause the "+1" to be removed automatically, which would also be confusing, just in a different way.

Except that favourite performs the function of +1, while clicking +1 first then prevents you favouriting which are two distinct actions.

So in your workflow if you wanted to get from having the image favorited, to only having it +1'd, how would that work?

Create a different page for both of them, use a different counter too.
