It just occurred to me...

As a muscle girl lover, I've always thought I belonged to a niche. Yet social media is bursting with them, and I see them a lot more walking around than, say, 10 years ago. Is it just an issue of perspective (because that's where my focus goes), or is it not really niche anymore, or is it that finding them attractive because of their muscles is the niche part?

I'd like to know your thoughts on this.

Social media algorithms tailor content to what we are into. You search for muscular women, then you're going to get a lot of muscular women content.

And it depends on what you see by "I see a lot more walking around." I am into strength sports and see buff women a lot in my local fitness community, but outside of it, they are still rare and it's been like that even ten years ago.

It's still a niche thing.

Its very niche but online all the shmoes and fbbs in the world can interact with each other .and i think there are around 1 million shmoes and about 100k highly muscular women. but they are spread across the globe so it's actually not a lot compared to the billions of people who are not into this .

irl the most muscular women i see are cyclists and joggers with big calves. like a few days ago i saw one with huge calves but she was gone in like a second so it could have been an illusion. i think I only saw 1 woman with decent biceps in my entire life so far (30 years) and maybe 2 or 3 with 6 pac abs. toned legs are more common but calves can get big just from genetics. women with hamstring and thigh muscles are also rare but i live in a cold climate so i can only see that in the summer .

I would say liking any muscular women below physique and bodybuilding level is not really a niche. Most of the guys I know today are into obviously muscular lower bodies, abs and don't care if a fit upper body comes along with it. I'm not saying it's a fetish or they exclusively like them, but there's a definite preference for fit over skinny or flabby. This is different from when I was in highschool/college (more than 10 years ago). The line for everyone is different, of course.

Instinctively, it feels like it's less of a niche for women to want to be fit. I'm not talking at the level of popular models here. Doing gear and having a body that can compete or be on the cover of a magazine is still niche, but not working out as a hobby.

What country are you based?

An old penal colony. When I say I see more, it's relative to previous years of course, but a girl with thick and/or defined muscles is not an uncommon sight for me in the city or public transit. And being used traveling across the Commonwealth, I'd say the same goes in other big cities at least. Just the other day there was this gal sitting in a restaurant not far from me with legit jacked arms. I don't think it's because I pay more attention to it now than 10 or 15 years ago though. The guy sitting in front of that chick I mentioned seemed pretty regular to me (physically and in personality), but also he didn't strike me as the muscle fan, maybe more as a guy who could appreciate a fit body not overly paying attention to toned vs. big.

So yeah I'm kind of the mind of @Blotter12, that you can see the era is clearly different and female muscle much more accepted, but that somehow the fetishism of it is not. Which maybe is (should be?) normal.
