Just after midnight on New Year's Day, January 1st, 2026, Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as NYC's 112th Mayor.

It also means no speculation about hopes or strawmanning about as-of-yet unrealized fears. If the man (and his administration) hasn't materially enacted actual policy that you provide citations for, from credible sources, voluntarily, up-front, and in good faith, then you are off-topic and deliberately hijacking this thread.
This is not your personal soapbox. Instead, consider it a test of your topic discipline, intellectual honesty, and academic rigor (facts backed by credible citations). Those are the bare minimum good practice expectations for rational discourse.
I'm a native NY'er so the mayor is of personal interest to me. Mamdani is one of NYC's youngest Mayors and his campaign and administration appointments thus far have been consistent in messaging and actions. I will be watching the policies enacted, their implementation, and their impact over time.
Politicians that adhere to their campaign promises or listen to their constituents once elected are extremely rare. I am taking a "wait and see" approach to see how things unfold with Mamdani and his administration.
