GotW fatigue

Dec 30, 2025 - edited Dec 30, 2025 - permalink

Just something I thought of as we end the year, but I know some people here really push certain women on here to get them to win (I know I’m probably guilty of doing it myself). I was thinking though, especially with the weekly voting, do some people here who vote, get fatigued over some of the same women getting nominated every week and not winning?

I know persistence sometimes wins out, but I have seen fatigue set in at times over the 4+ years I’ve been on the site.

What does everyone else think?

Many will never get the win, simply because the height of their popularity was long before this site ever existed. But to this day I still see Lenda Murray being nominated... and it's fine if she never wins, because she has all the other accolades that really matter in her profession, so I doubt she loses any sleep over it.

This isn't directed at the OP, but just in general... there are many who might "deserve" to be GotW, but there are many whose flame has simply burned out. For those of us who remember these women at the height of their popularity, we get pretty nostalgic for them, but that becomes a dwindling number as the years go by.

I agree with you cg, there are probably a decent amount of women here who have made their careers and lives really of being successful as a bodybuilder, and have been rewarded greatly over their lives. They don’t need to win GotW which is also fine by me.

I also agree with that for many of the women who get nominated but never win, that their time at least popularity wise, has come and gone. Some get second or third winds, but the push is as never as strong as it was when they were popular.

I was thinking about this too, do people here who usually vote for GotW tend to stop voting for the same women if they’ve seen them on the nomination list week after week?

Damn, first time I got existential dread from reading a comment on the GWM forum

I guess it can be interpreted as dark... didn't mean to remind everyone of their mortality. Something that's on the forefront of my mind is how quickly life passes us by, and we tend to get hung up on things that are pretty much meaningless outside of their context. I'm not on this site as often as I used to be, and that's 100% intentional.

I think that's pretty valid... I've suspected this as well (especially if it's the same image being used).

In agreement with this too. Sometimes I try to pick what the image with the most likes is either all time, or within a certain time period. It just depends on what the trends are during that time.
