All they did was heckle, but they kept coming back each night and were still there for every show. π€
Apologies pluralised Phenom.
Heckling requires outrage, you need a source of outrage, thus they came every night.

Jimmy Carr and Anthony Jeselnik are my current favorites. I love bait-and-switch jokes, especially about over the edge stuff.
Since we're on the subject...does anybody recall a performer that competed in fbb before getting into comedy? I remember having a video of one of her shows when she talked about it and even showed pictures from her fbb days.
No idea, but I'd love to find out.

I know who youβre talking about, and Iβve tried to find her but havenβt had any luck.
I can't believe I'm adding this next name. After numerous searches for stand-up comedy, my Youtube's suggested videos are now recommending comedians... But I didn't expect this well known celebrity, much less was I prepared to watch the video and be completely slack jawed. I laughed. Several times. Out loud.
Also FYI of TMI...
Teri Hatcher Youtube
Wow, awesome suggestions. Lots of stand ups I'd never even considered before. Will have to spend an evening or five trawling through their routines.
Speaking unwatched...Teri Hatcher?! From TV Superman?! π€π³π€£

Yes! Teri Hatcher. As in from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, the original MacGyver tv show, and many others. She absolutely slayed. You should watch it.
Also, the 1990s were a golden era for comedy. There were dedicated stand-up comedy shows that filmed at venues like Caroline's, there were sketch comedy shows like "In Living Color" and "MadTV". If you go farther back, there were plenty of other sketch comedy shows like "The Carol Burnett Show". There's basically an endless rabbit's hole of really good comedy you can go down if you look. Particularly if you don't limit yourself to just one country or to one era.
Bernie Mack had some of the best stand up routines Iβve ever watched. I wish I had seen him in person. Godfrey is great also, saw him in person a few times and always had me in tears.

Was hoping more people would bite.
I will do my duty and offer a counter-argument to keep the conversation going. I'm not so sure about Carlos Mencia these days, but Dane Cook's reputation seems to be on the mend as of late.
People need to get the reference.
I recall seeing Mencia on TV but he barely registered. Cook I only Saw in Employee Of The Month and in Good Luck Chuck, but never seen his stand-up comedy. I saw the Cook movies to see Jessica Simpson and Jessica Alba. Cook was incidental and mostly blocking my view of the Jessicas.
I know Rogan has accused either Mencia or Cook of stealing material, but don't recall which. I'm not even sure I heard it from Rogan. I've never watched any of his stand-up, not Fear Factor, not UFC, not even Talk Radio, and I've listened to maybe 3 of his podcasts in full. The only one of those I'll name is Neil deGrasse Tyson. But more than 99% of his content I saw recommended in my feed were all whackos and crackpots that he's too braindead to fact check or question. No Joe, "Supersonic Flying Lizard People" don't exist, and no Joe, they haven't "Replaced all the world's gourmet chefs". Hey, I can steal and repurpose a theme song:
"Braindead Joooooe!! A real American whacko, Braindead Joe's on the air... NOOOOOOOO JOOOOOE!!! ...And remember kids! Even half-knowing is still too much effort!!"
At very least the News Radio reference helped me remember Dave Foley from his sketch comedy days with Kids In The Hall.
And absolutely KICKING myself for forgetting to include a marvelous comedian... Mabulous! Simply mabulous!
I suppose, if they are to understand why I brought them up specifically. Otherwise, there could be legit fans of them here. They both (Mencia and Cook) at one time had at least some degree of celebrity fame.
So were you looking for people to bite by saying they liked them with a gotcha later that they'd been duped? (In which case I'm the party pooper.)
Or were you looking for (more) people to get the reference (and chime in)? (As I did.)

I'm currently really into Nathan Macintosh. Discovered him about a month ago or so.
