I disagree, the tags can describe the contents of a pic in great detail, that makes it easier to find pics one might like. Misused tags are more of a problem.
Yes I think it's misuse and the lack of categorisation (parent/child) which means the 10 tag slots get quickly filled with either the high level parent tags because nothing else exists, or sometimes irrelevant or hyper detailed tags which aren't children of anything so the image doesn't get easily found in a more general parent tag search.
