The "what are you playing/watching/reading/listening to" thread!

Reading Demons by Dostoevsky. It's my third attempt, always putting it down for something else. This time I've made a reference card/bookmarker to keep track of the characters and their patronymics...

Listening to the Ichi the Killer soundtrack on repeat. Some crazy psycho sounds in there.

I’m listening to Pimp by Iceberg Slim. I’m 76% finished and so far I love it!

  • Reading :: The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Ed-to-the-Poe.

  • Video Game :: Doom 2. The original one, not the politically correct "Eternal"

Currently reading The deluge, by Markley. A neŵ attempt of Great American Novel, this time it takes place in our future and it is about climate chance, followed by the point of view of a number of characters (an activist, a scientist, an advertising specialist, a religious leader and so on). It remembers me American Pastoral for style and themes, but with our future as scenario

Bought a starter box set for Games Workshop's Middle Earth Battle Strategy Game. Aside from having the absolute most awkward name for a game (it used to be called The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, which sounds so much better), I have been reading the rules and am loving the mechanics and gameplay so far. I particularly like how you don't have to buy codices like you do if you want to play Warhammer 40K, and that makes it much more affordable than the latter. I want to get this to the table, but the challenge is going to be finding a player base, because while there is a dedicated 40K and Star Wars Legion (and now Shatterpoint) base in my city, I don't know if there is one for this game.

I started reading that once. Never got to finish, though.

Ooooo!

This must be a different "Deluge". I was thinking of the classic novel. The one with the sword-fighting in it.

No, it is another one, this is a 2023 novel (but it was translated into Italian just a few months ago)

Great bands!

And Commander is really the best way to play paper Magic. Standard just isn't fun anymore. Wish Magic Arena would have EDH, though Brawl is the closest alternative.

Listening to Tom Waits' Glitter and Doom. Reading Miroslav Holub's scene with musicians. Two times raw poetry.

Listening :: A punk/rock/metal compilation called "Fish Sauce". Found it at the secondhand store. Good luck finding any information on it, though. This is one of those obscure albums lost to history.

Just finished Elden Ring (the base game, but will probably start the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in a couple months.) It was an incredible experience and it might go down as one of my favorite games of all time, but it also made me think about something that I would love to discuss. I love Soulsborne games, and I have enjoyed a few Soulslike games like Hollow Knight and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor, but I wonder if the Soulslike "genre" is becoming a bit overplayed. I know that the video game industry history of identifying popular titles and/or subgenres and then pumping out clones, and I wonder if that is the current trend with the soulslike genre.

That being said, I recently bought Nine Sols on Steam and will be playing it on my deck when I go on a trip in a couple weeks lol.

Playing: LOTRO

Watching: Honestly? Reaction videos on youtube. If you had brought up the idea to me last year I'd have laughed and dismissed the concept. But there are some decent channels out there, just have to find one you like.

Reading: Haven't really read any books since college. It's something I used to enjoy, but I don't make time for it anymore.

Listening: Lots of things. But I'll just throw this one out there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ponTbDDMYjw

After from Software there have been an abundance of souls like games. I don't mind. 3rd person action is my fav genre. It all depends on the game. Last year Black Myth was got contender as well as erd tree. If games are of this quality then I am all for it

Currently playing: Ghost of Tshushima Which is also a great souls like game. Although with realistic bosses

A couple of days ago I started Watching From, and I got really into it. I love mystery shows (like Lost, Dark, etc) so it's right up my alley.

Also - Severance S2 comes back today. If you haven't seen it, then drop everything and go watch Season 1 right now.
