To find image themes now you could use tags, forum or similar images but another way could be themed "collages" where the creator or members (if chosen) could add pictures. Then the subscribers to the collage would get notifications when there are new additions.
Themed threads are hard to remember which pics have been posted. Similar images or tags could be quite wide in what shows up.
This could be a way to create collections of very specific images.
