Lisa Lyon died from stomach cancer on 9/8/23. Given her historical importance in the development and acceptance of female muscle, I just wanted to post this to commemorate her.
She was the first overtly muscular woman I saw on television—or at least the first one I found attractive—back in the late seventies when I was in high school.
Of course, her level of muscularity wouldn’t even get her into the bikini division of bodybuilding today, but she helped pave the way for what was to come.
Fun fact: her physique was the model for the character of Elektra in the Daredevil comic book.
