When did you notice this change? I don't think I made any changes recently.
One thing is that the image gallery page has a square HB ad in the upper right corner that only shows up when there are more than a certain minimum number of thumbnails on the page. Maybe this is what you are seeing.
I think you're right, that I didn't notice it before because my recent favorites didn't change much. Today I must have triggered the minimum threshold, and now due to the HB ad the page layout is different.
