"vote/agree" type option for posts?

Apologies if this has been asked/answered.

Is it possible/useful/desirable to have a vote up/agree type option for thread posts? A "vote down/disagree" might be too antagonistic but plenty other forum have similar options so you can show approval/agreement with a post, without needing to post for the sake of it.
