Athletes with muscles (non-bb & non-CrossFit)

I’d like to see any pictures of women athletes with muscles.

A few rules:

No body builders (bb) or CrossFit women, since we already know how strong looking they are and would just end up flooding the thread.

Also muscle definition needs to be clearly present, rather than suggested.

Please provide an indication of the sport they are involved in.

I’d encourage highlighting photos already on GWM, so people can favourite them.

To get the ball rolling, with the Great Britain's Olympic women's rugby team:

That Anna Santamans chick is stunning. I will definitely be rooting for her to get gold. Vive la France!

Can't disagree there, she's amazing.

Charlotte Bonnet, another French swimmer

Maude Charron, French-Canadian weightlifter

Who could ever forget Michelle Jenneke and her pre-hurdle warmup routine?

A lot of these female athletes lift weights as part of their training.

Yeah, but what's different about them is they don't train for aesthetics, but for performance in their particular discipline, which makes their physique look stronger IMO, especially in their core.

They do, but it isn’t their primary goal. It is there to support their main sport. Also because bodybuilding is not their primary goal, they will tend to focus on ‘functional training’, to improve strength, flexibility and mobility. CrossFit has a lot of this too, but I chose to exclude this from this topic because I wanted to make space for athletes of other sports.

Tennis players are one category where weight training has come in to allow the players to perform better on the court. Serena Williams is an example of this:

Interesting! One of the best (male) tennis players of all times, Rafael Nadal, is known for his enormous arms but I remember watching an interview with him where he said that he hasn't lifted a weight in his life. The magic of good genetics, I guess!

In terms of muscular sportswomen, I've always been fascinated by the bodies that gymnasts get. I guess it must be the never-ending explosive, body-weight exercises. The muscles of a young Laura Campos were legendary. And acrobatic gymnasts like Daria Kalinina also seem to combine good muscle growth with incredible leanness.

She was truly amazing, wasn't she? Unfortunately I think the jealousy of those who said she was on steroids, and perhaps her strong Christian faith, drove her away from the fitness world. Or maybe she is still in it, but she's decided to be very private.

And, these athletic women likely do not take steroids if they are being tested. Yet their physiques are just as developed as women on this site who are claimed to regularly cycle steroids. Although I’m sure there is overlap, this shows that women can develop buff physiques without steroids. Something I really believe and see almost daily at my gym as well i.e athletic women training for their sport and including weight lifting into the regimen.
