Went to a bodybuilding show this weekend. It's not the first time I've been to one; I go to a few and am pretty deep in the culture. I just love the sport on both sides across all divisions and train myself and may compete naturally one day. What stood out to me though were the couples there - really deep in the culture together and the sport.
It reminded me a lot of an old girlfriend I had where we bonded over lifting. I started encouraging her to do a show cause she had great genetics and she would send me update pics for bikini posing (had to balance me being honest about liking her muscles while not being weird about it and giving physique advice.) It got to the point where she brought up a cycle to try and compete in certain divisions and wasn't opposed to it.
Everything was great but we eventually split over a very big life difference. But always think of what coulda been. Spending weekends across the country competing. It's a tough sport and lifestyle but we both loved the sport so much and probably would have ended up convincing each other to pull the trigger and step on stage. Neither of us have - she did a PL meet and kind of fell off. Sad but it wasn't meant to be.

We had a big religious difference. Atheist vs. Christian and how we'd like to raise a family/household religiously. Decided it was best to end it if such a big part of our worlds would have such a big gap. Probably for the best, but dang woulda been so special to do a prep together for our first show.

Thank you. That makes sense, too much to overcome in a serious relationship. In my case it boiled down to personality differences, but the good news is I'm with someone better for me now who has even greater potential genetically and enjoys working out.
