seems to be a tradeoff between either "More definition, but keep some of the block visual artifacts of the compressed source" and being smoother, less visual artifacts, but just blurrier

seems like the enhanced colors youtube version is doing something that preserves more detail than what I'm getting

For me B is better.

Man, I wish I could get my hands on the entire Hawaii video from Denise Hoshor.

Decided to try the mystery girls video up to 720p. Its subtle but if I posted the 1080p example I'd have to break it up into 6-7 parts

There are programs out there you can buy that will do it. Expensive programs. There's a free on out there but it's not very good. Eats up too much of your PC's computing power.

Google AI video enhancer and you'll find some apps that do just that.

BTW, in NO way can you call this a morph. It are sophisticated algo's that calculate a higher definition. Visual Effects artists use it all the time, because it is way faster than rendering a scene. So work in HD and upscale with an Algo.
