Muscular Actress

if there was a market for muscle females in action films, I'm sure lots of actresses would do the exercise and diets needed to get muscular or, at least, very athletic... but the general movie going audience usually don't place the same physical demands on actresses as they do on actors - meaning, male stars are often buff while female stars are just skinny!

It just sucks that male stars try to look like their comic book counterpart, and female stars never do.

Because it's much, much easier to get a guy to look like that. Men can achieve that look with relatively safe protocols, but women can't.

The obvious female celebrities with muscle seem to be on this thread, but I noted one who is missing. Pamela Anderson got her start on Baywatch and was soon noted for her biceps. In her prime, she built up some impressive guns. Here are a couple of pics from this very website

Apparently pamela was considering bodybuilding before acting that would of been so cool.

Agreed. I'm sure women who can get buff and look at least like Rachel who can also act are available. To me it's just plain dumb to have skinny, un-muscled women playing comic book heroines.

I don't think they are "avoiding" muscular women in movies but actually have a different view on what "muscular" means

Take Katy O'Brian in Love Lies Bleeding, she's strong and all, but for us she isn't THAT big, for them, she's huge

For average movie people, a really muscular girl is something like Tessa Thompson in Thor 4, or Alicia Vikander in Tomb Raider, nice physiques, don't get me wrong, but their version of "muscular" isn't ours

Yeah, but they all made themselves sufficiently look the part (especially Katy O'Brian), most don't.

Pam Anderson actually got an even earlier start on Home Improvement. Superb rock-hard sexy biceps!

Sophie Turner's another example. She's gotten ripped, presumably for her Tomb Raider movie.

The reason studios don't hire overtly muscular actresses is their fear that audiences will react the way Grandma reacts in this clip:

Their fear is probably somewhat justified.

Arnold Schwarzenegger says he struggled breaking into Hollywood because of his big muscles. He got lucky with movies like "Conan" and "The Terminator" that leaned into his strengths, pardon the pun. I feel like the same could happen with muscular women. You need a movie that treats them as more than the Buff Chick.

Yeah, being muscular just to be muscular is stupid. But a Superhero/badass role calls for it, to the extent of a Vikander/Hamilton

that's actually quite a solid bit of muscle, she isn't ripped by any means but she looks strong, beefy, and all natural

pity there wasn't a tomb raider 2 with Vikander within a few years of the first film..she was really in shape for that first one with some lightweight muscle that she put on fast..i am thinking she would of been a light middleweight had she continued for 3 years from pre production to end of shooting that fictional 2nd film.. i enjoy parts of that first film..alicia's parts film and body

I think this could happen in a few years maybe 5 or 6.

The trend of "muscle mommy" is be coming more and more popular among young people and on Tiktok.

A role as superheroine like Wonder Woman or She Hulk could be given to a very muscular girl.
