Revenge or is it too corny

I would love some advice for my 2nd novel which is nearly complete.  In my first book the main character gets in a fight with her ex-husband and takes him pretty good. The 2nd book also has an abusive ex. Is it too corny for her to work out get stronger and beat him up since I already did it in the first novel?  The first one was easy to write since it was mostly true, the second is less so but it definitely could fit in the plot.  Would appreciate your thoughts.  I will post the backstory for the female character I wrote in this thread soon.

No i think its okay. Maybe she will not only beat him up physically... She can outcurl him.. Destroy him in armwrestling and kind of this stuff.
