Ghost comments

I notice this happens a lot of times, including to images I posted: The comment count is higher than the actual number of comments appear. Could the reason be that the count includes also deleted comments?

So why do some deleted posts still show up and some don't?

So what do you have to do to get a comment deleted?  I imagine it has to be pretty crude and vulgar, or are there other ways?  Just curious.

These comments have been chosen to be deleted by the people who posted them.

Comments can be deleted by the poster. Site staff can also delete comments. Frequent reasons are explicit sexual language, personal insults, or the comment not being in English.
