Fans don’t go because they can look online and it’s easier. Same reason why people don’t go to shopping malls or cinemas like in previous decades. I’m not arguing that online is better than real life, it’s just a competing factor, and it has a real consequence.

What about men's open and classic physique? their fans show up in bigger numbers. FBB fans should start doing the same.
There should be more in my region or we need a better way of transportation. like I wish airplanes were cheaper and faster and there was an airport in every town. It's also hard to find out when they happen. like I found out there was one in relatively close to were I live but it was already over and I don't know when the next one happens . apart from that I am also paranoid about being seen as a pervert. but I don't really know what the vibes are like at these contests maybe it's more relaxed. I have become more prudish over the years.

Agree with what asianfitnessfan wrote. I honestly don't think that the reason that a lot of "schmoes" don't go to shows is because of fear of being caught on camera (who would be taking pictures of random people in a crowd?) We are living in a more "online" world where we don't have to leave our homes to do many things. It includes working from home, streaming movies and TV shows versus having to drive to Blockbuster, playing games online versus going to an arcade, etc.
I also don't think there is a lot that can be done because it comes down to this: are we talking about fbb "fans", or fbb fans. I would be willing to wager that the vast majority of people here (and overall those who have a fetish for buff women,) don't really care about bodybuilding itself as a sport. They might enjoy seeing buff women, but seeing what they do on stage probably does a lot less for them than watching content online that is explicitly produced to cater towards their fetish.
I do also want to throw out a super wild theory. I wonder if some don't attend shows because they know that very muscular and fit men will also be there, and as evidenced by so many posts we see here asking if female bodybuilders date "normal" men, I wonder if there is a sense of inadequacy or even jealousy in seeing a buff woman with a likewise muscular man.

I've been to the Olympia twice and seeing fbbs in person is a sight to behold. Seeing muscular men with them doesn't bother me or make me feel jealous or "inadequate".

Oh I didn't mean you at all. I was speculating as to why some might choose not to go to shows at all, and I wonder if that could possibly be one of the reasons. Seeing as how you go to shows like The Olympia, I didn't think that represented you specifically.

I know you didn't mean me specifically. I was just telling my experience lol
I know some fans don't go to shows because they're afraid of getting caught on video or photos. They wanna keep their fetish a secret.
I never heard of that, but could see it if they were in an area where it might affect their career. I always was cautious. I don't think that is a big reason though. I am a fan off off season fbbs. I have no reason to see them dehydrated and about to pass out for the sake of a show. The tans look awful to me as well. Never was my thing and I'm a huge fan. Give me strength events and girls carrying bulk and showing off all day over contests.
I can speak to this... I go to bodybuilding shows a few times a year and I've competed in three of them.
First problem: they're boring.
Second problem: they're expensive
Even at the Olympia.. even watching Women's Physique and Women's Bodybuilding which I obviously love... it's.. pretty boring. Yes it's amazing to see these muscular goddesses do their thing. It's also tedious to see several of them dance to literally the same song (which is always, sadly, Bring Me To Life by Evanesence)
What is awesome is the expo that's attached to it. I think it has far more energy too. It's a bit like comicon as they're a bunch of activities and vendors and all manner of bodybuilders and crossfitters and athletes and generally jacked people and their admirers walking around. It's a lot cheaper than the bodybuilding show as well. I believe that it was $100 for a two-day pass.
I don't care who you are or how closeted you are about your muscle fetish... you will LOVE the Olympia expo. You can walk around and enjoy the scene and absolutely no one will care. There's a lot of fit people, there's a lot of normal people, there's a lot of distinctly not fit people. It makes no difference.
The best thing that the Olympia and the Arnold could do is to emphasize this part of the experience and really work to bring in a range of activities and interests all around physical culture. I think if you guys had more insight as to how good this experience is, then you'd realize that it's CRAZY to miss it.
And yeah I get that online content is free and AI is getting better, but you haven't lived until Andrea Shaw walks by looking like a He-Man figurine come to life and your heart basically stops.
