These kinds of reports are useless without some examples of videos you aren't able to play. For iPhone it also helps to know which iOS version you're on, since that determines what Safari engine is running underneath any mobile browser you're using.
The most likely cause is people uploading videos that are using the VP9 codec, which Apple has been dragging their heels on enabling to play back when they're inside an mp4 container, even though the systems are fully capable of doing so, and pretty much every browser on the planet other than mobile Safari already does.
If you can't play this example video, that's likely the cause: https://www.girlswithmuscle.com/images/full/y...
Is there a way to fix that issue? Had the same thing happen to me when I was trying to play a video. (Julia Vins’ latest vids)
Please post a link to the video
Interestingly, neither of those is using the VP9 codec, which would be the most common reason to not work in Safari. My best guess is that either something is slightly broken/missing in the mp4 container metadata that other players just ignore, or there's some issue with the audio codec used. Here's some tests to check those:
Recontainerized versions:
Audio stream stripped off:
Let me know if any of those play back on your iPhones (you also still haven't said which iOS version you're running).
Huh, I assume something with the actual video encoding then, even though I don't see anything unusual about it. Here's some re-encoded versions, I assume these play ok?
I have an apple phone. For years i've been able to play every video I've come across on this website but ever since the revamp update I've been having trouble with a lot of videos. The problem has lessened somewhat in recent updates but its still a pretty noticeable problem. If you already know about this glitch I'm sorry for being annoying about it. Just thought I'd mention it incase you were unaware
