Went to the TO Pro super show expo a few years ago. It was the last day, but saw a couple of competitors and buff women.
Yes. 8 that my wife competed in, and about a dozen more, including an Olympia. Her first coach was competing that year.
No, because I don't wanna embarrass myself, and I don't have good social skills.
I have nothing to share (no offense) with gym enthusiasts, I will be like a fish out of water.
Dude, you think only extroverts and gym rats go to bodybuilding shows?
There’s all types of people that go the shows. If that were the case, then they wouldn’t sell enough tickets and make much money.

I'm sure you're right, but It's like those cars/bikes festivals, where 95% of men go for the bikini ladies, even if they don't give a fu*k about racing and vehicles.
You can spot them from a mile, like schmoes at fitness expos.

Not always, a lot of the people in the audience at a bodybuilding show are friends and family of the competitors. As long as you aren’t wearing something that makes your fetish obvious or acting like a creep, people will probably just think you’re there supporting someone.
This is the time of the year when there’s a show somewhere in the US pretty much every weekend. So if you haven’t been to one, buy a ticket and go cheer on whoever you like.
I went to a couple Women's Extravaganzas back in the 90s in Jersey.. and I went to Raye Hollitt's strength show in Burbank CA around 2006/7. I think Raye only did her show once (?)
I've also been to a couple traditional bodybuilding contests.. and I went to an amateur bodybuilding contest at Muscle Beach (Venice). All the shows were fun, bodybuilding crowds seem easy to bond & chat with. There's usually a strong connection between the athletes & the crowd because it's kind of a niche sport.
Been to more shows than I can remember. I am also a fitness photographer, so I get a lot of access and know a lot of competitors personally. I usually have a great time. I don't understand the way judging works so watching them on stage is lame, but the athletes are a lot of fun off stage which is great
Jr. Nats in 1990. A moment in time I will never forget. Tommie Moreau walked right by me, but I was so in awe of her that I forgot her name!
Tommie was awesome.. but I'd say unfortunately kinda forgotten (?) Another thick one from that era who reminded me of Tommie, was Eve Ripoli. They shared big, frosted blonde hair and were very densely muscled for the early 9os.. if I remember right.
A few times at the Olympia (Meet the Olympians and Prejudging, only once at the evening show), about 20 years ago at a contest in Mainz and once at the Portugal Pro. Maybe i will go there again this year, maybe to an other show in Europe (depending on time, money and the contestants).
Whether a local show or the Olympia? If so, describe your experience.
I’ve been to the Olympia twice, in 2023 and 2024. I had an awesome time and it was great meeting some of the ladies. I plan on going again this year.
