My favourite band is Dream Theater , but then Im biased cos I know the keyboard player.
You know Jordan Rudess?
Tool, Nails, Burzum, The Cure, Dissection.
Good list man. Although I don't follow too many current black metal bands Waitain and Tsjuder are pretty good.
Just found this thread. I'm with WillowMeadow in that my tastes are all over the place. I like many of the ones already listed. Since I've been fortunate to travel some, my tastes have a bit of an international tinge. Some not yet mentioned......
Yardbirds. Evolved into Led Z. AND Renaissance. Since I love both classical music and rock, R. was a perfect blend.
Motown Baby!!! Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Supremes, Four Tops, Temptations, Rare Earth.
Great Instrumental Bands: The Ventures, Booker T. & The MGs.
Moody Blues. Saw their second concert at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony.
Bee Gees. An Aussie band that reinvented itself several times with great results.
Black Eyed Peas
John Mellencamp
Beach Boys, powered by the musical genius of the recently passed Brian Wilson.
Inti Illimani & Inti Illimani Historico. Originally formed in 1967 in Santiago, Chile by a group of engineering students, they created the concept of "nuevo cancion," a blend of jazz, light rock, and traditional Andean folk music. They were in exile during much of the Pinochet dictatorship.
The Byrds, Hollies, Buffalo Springfield. Members of each eventually combined into Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Saw Graham Nash in concert last year.
The late Johnny Clegg from South Africa and his multi-racial bands, Juluka and Savuka. Quietly opposed apartheid. Saw him in concert in late 2000s. Great show.
Last ones for now: the impeccable jazz-rock of Traffic and Steely Dan.
Mindi!!! ;)
