Is the muscle girl scene decreasing?

Feb 08, 2025 - permalink

I’ve got the feeling that the muscle girl scene is decreasing. The people who are active and the servers in general. I’ve noticed a lot of discord servers have gone dead and nobody is really active anymore. A lot of people that I used to talk to aren’t active or are deleting their accounts on discord. Also been noticing a lot of muscle girl who used to be big, have gotten smaller or stopped bodybuilding. Does anybody agree with me or have a response to why this happened?

I don't think female bodybuilding is in decline it seems to be more popular than ever. but the internet in general is going downhill I am not active in these discord servers. but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those accounts got banned or they some how got pressured into becoming more modest. I am having a hard time finding any good places to post my stories now since I got banned from deviant art. and everything else has similar rules or is very obscure or has another problem. I got banned from Instagram and Twitter for unknown reasons likely broken anti spam. many people making sexual content got banned from patrion even the banks and credit card companies make it hard for porn sites. many hentai websites are now region locked commercials have become more modest.

Google search Has become less accurate. many websites are forced to shut down. either by the host or because they go broke because of advertisers boycotting sexual or politically incorrect content. or just because they are not getting a lot of visitors since they don't show up on Google search anymore. and it is also affecting non sexual sites to a lesser extent

I hope not. Love sites like this one but maybe these women and some sites are not getting as much support from the public at large and are looked down on a bit.Love hard fit well muscled women but maybe others would like women to remain less developed.

I can't speak for discord. As for muscle girls downsizing, that's the nature of the beast. Girls come and go, then a new crop comes up.

Declining on the Internet (basically it's all pay sites nickel and diming mediocre content if not outright recycling it). Still going strong in real life, with a bigger percentage of women than ever putting on muscle. Most of it is modest, fitness level muscle with an emphasis on lower body but it's still much more common than when I was growing up in the 90's/00's

I don't know about the scene but muscle girls are increasing. Many girls are being inspired by influencers and a healthy lifestyle. Even in local gym fit girls are increasing

I get what you’re saying. I think it’s hard for a lot of these women to continue doing what they do for so many years. That’s why the ones who do stick around are so impressive. It’s like it’s something they love for about 5-10 years and then they get out of it. New girls will come along, but yes, part of me also wonders even if some stay in it, are they downsizing.

I think that’s why you see girls like Vlad and Ranya outpacing everyone. There’s very few doing what they do.

The most disappointing part is seeing these girls on here now who are, in fact, fit….but in a skinny girl way. Ripped or athletic, but not big. I’ve dated three physique girls and one ifbbpro. They are massive. These new girls don’t look like that.

less women are going for bodybuilding, but the fitness scene is exploding

Once a muscular girl was usually muscular all over.

Now we have a lot of girls, who focus on a single body part.

Maybe it's amplified by social media platforms.

I'm not complaining at all!

I'm sure they existed before, but not as many as today.

To answer your first part about discord groups going dead: I think a lot of it has to do with more and more content being paywalled, and free content easily found on sites like this or on bodybuilders' social pages. Bodybuilders and models have been cracking down hard on sites that share copyrighted content, and it has even led to some better known sources (like reddit's r/hardbodies) getting shut down. Plus, I think the challenge with discord groups, for example, is that I can imagine that conversation can become a bit redundant. While there are some pretty good conversations here, quite a few discord groups I have been in only have so many different discussion topics before it gets boring and everyone pretty much posts the same thing.

And as to muscular women downsizing or outright quitting, I think it falls into two categories. The first is that especially now, we see women (and men!) starting pretty young and going full redline with their training and blasting a large quantity of PEDs very quickly and aggressively. They go at a pace that is pretty much unsustainable, and it's very easy to get burned out but not realize it until it hits hard. And when that burnout hits, it can be hard to get back into it after losing a lot of those gains, ESPECIALLY if you are forced to cut back on the drug use (or if PED use permanently fucks your endocrine system.)

And the second reason, in addition to that, is that there are a lot of health risks that can come from being that big and muscular and taking drugs needed to get to that level. The past few years saw a lot of bodybuilders and fitness athletes die relatively young, and I think that was a wakeup call for some. We are seeing strength athletes in their 20s and 30s with heart and/or kidney issues where they really are too young to be having them (outside of genetics.) And I recall hearing from someone that Ariel Rose cut back on PED use because of health issues, and she is only in her mid 20s (if I am recalling wrong please correct.) With that happening, it's not surprising to see some athletes downsizing because carrying that much mass and doing what they have to do to get there can pose serious health risks.

I haven't gotten this impression from traffic levels on here. (However, I hardly go on Discord so I can't speak for that.)

That said, I do think that Onlyfans, combined with the parasitic managers the women hire who in turn hire copyright firms that spew takedown requests at anyplace on the internet that even mentions the girl's name, is one of the worst things to happen to the muscle girl scene. This could definitely have affected Reddit and possibly been a cause behind the takedown of r/hardbodies. I don't think it would affect Discord though, since servers aren't searchable through Google and would probably not get picked up by their automated tools.

The musclegirl scene is exploding. I'm on Instagram almost every day and simply cannot keep up. Every time a musclegirl announces her retirement or rage quits or simply abandons her account, at least 1.3 more are already lined up to take her place.

I am sticking to the position that discord is clunky and unappealing to most people, even to those who have heard of it. Whatever discord is, it ain't it. So, if you're basing your impressions of anything on discord adoption or participation, that's probably the reason for the "decline" you are seeing and for the negative tone of your message.

Precisely. These younger guys have no idea.

Agree. The internet has plenty of recycled stuff being sold by people that don't even have the right to sell it in some cases. That is my guess anyhow. People want money for AI crap. Not from me. It had best be about 10 times better than what the previews show and it is not. I mean Instagram and the places they advertise with their accounts. There are plenty of legit people and muscle girls are bigger than ever to my eye.

Yeah, it's insane how many there are now. Golden age indeed.

Non competitive muscle girls are everywhere on social media, wellness and figure divisions are becoming more popular. But women's bodybuilding is in decline and has been for the past 10 years, less and less local shows have that division.

^^^ this

I've pointed out that over the last decade or so I've seen an explosion in the amount of 'muscular' women both in person and on social media.

So the question is why are women not wanting to do the bodybuilding division? While I can understand it not being the biggest division….doesn’t it seem odd that there isnt enough women in a country this big that would find it appealing? Is this happening in physique as well?

With the rise of instagram fitness models and things like yoga, pilates, and aerobics booming, it seems that there's been a cultural shift from building muscle to getting a sleeker more athletic look for most women these days. back before social media, there were more women in powerlifting and strength training, but the focus has been on aesthetics now

I feel like this is exactly the opposite of true, with powerlifting getting more popular among women. Now you have things like powerlifting clubs at colleges, which didn't exist ~15 years ago.

Girls wrestling and flag football are taking off. They just had a national TV commercial during the Super Bowl.

We've seen what's going on with women's basketball the past couple of years.

Admittedly, I need to get off the couch, but as a consumer and activist, I love seeing them getting all these opportunities. If that leads more women to physique sports in the future after their other sporting careers wind down, great. If not, also great - people are getting to do what they want and everyone's got a chance to build a business around it (at least in this country).

Yes. definitely true. The same can be said with Tre's comments on the Super Bowl ads and the growth of women's sports here in the US. I don't see a down trend at all. It is all headed up. I'm not sure about women's bodybuilding money, but things are getting much better money wise in most female strength sports. I see plenty of huge muscle girls on the web....not at the gym as once was the case.

The scene is not decreasing at all. Just go to any popular bodybuilding gym.

Also, even if competitive women's BBing division is on the decline that means nothing: they are all bodybuilders now, just with different body types. Bikini, figure, and physique girls have all gotten huge.
