The vast majority of people in the fitness/bodybuilding industry is full of vain, narcissistic douchebags suffering from body dysmorphia. If anything, I personally pity them.
i think everyone has a narcicist streak, just depends on how they exercise it. Kids grew up with cameras around them all the time and now they love being on camera, or documenting everything. I make an instagram post like once a quarter. totally different manifestation these days.
Most muscle women these days are insufferable narcissists. Beautiful on the outside, really nasty self-centered people on the inside. They think they are the main characters while everyone else is NPC's.
Agree 100% The ones I dated very attractive but real nasty attitudes, as if they’re supposed to be worshipped when they walk into a gym. A few were cool, but I don’t care how many followers or likes you have, let alone, think you’re to be adored 24/7.
I think that’s just in general. We just happen to follow the fit ones. With a few exceptions I tend to unfollow accounts after they blow up. Pretty good chance they’ll decide to become a content creator full time instead of finishing school or their current job. Then “thank you for x followers” ok but most of you didn’t do anything. You’re just hot.
They are so annoying to me that I feel I should stop liking this cuz bare girls have toxic mindset, feeling like they have to prove something, feeling untouchable. It is so forced. Doesn't matter how much I love muscular women, I feel disgusted. And it hurts cuz I spent nearly 2/3 of my life giving love and loving this thing.
I may sound as a heartless monster but need to get this out of my chest and this is the perfect trend... You see i follow 2 instagram girls on Instagram that i specially love, will not say their names for reasons i'll keep. Thing is, both girls mentioned multiple times they have anxiety and some other complexes, i can understand that cause i feel as that sometimes, more that I would like to be honest; and know how terrible that is, so on some occasions these girls commented how hard is for them to be depressed and the low times they got; again, is understandable for real. But what i can take anymore is how they constantly say it, let's see both have great physics, have tons of fans, a lot of friends who support them, love relationships, have influence on a great part of population, got contracts with great fitness enterprises, followers on social media, ended up university careers, went to travels, live on amazing houses, have artistic skills and even with all that they complain of how hard life goes... See i may be a gruesome guy but come on girls, there are people out there who never got half of those things, please focus in how great you are, there is not needing on pointing your bad days, they're gone, keep the positive side of you.
That's all i gotta say...

Chester Bennington was the lead singer of one of the most popular metal bands in the world and probably had more money than he know what to do with. Took his own life.
Same with Chris Cornell. Lead singer of Soundgarden, had a great career and was probably very well off. Took his own life.
You can still struggle with depression and mental illness even if you have all the material things and career success that you could ever want. It shouldn't be a competition of "who has it worse."
It also goes without saying: “social media isn’t the real world.” What they are posting on Instagram and TikTok isn’t necessarily reflective of what they are going through in real life.
You guys are taking this way too seriously. It's just for entertainment and fun. What people post on their social media is not necessarily who they are (Stating the obvious).
Regards Mandul's opinion about depression and gratitude - I don't even know where to start with this backwards opinion. Open discussions about mental health are important. If people are doing it just because it is 'trending' sure it is cringe, but in this day and age you have to be discerning of misinformation more than anything (rather than judging someone's character)
And regards people being narcissists - Does everyone think no-one can be cured of narcissism? Or that narcissists are incapable of actually being good people or able to find ways to mitigate their behaviour?
Interesting topic, especially cuz I thought I was the only one having the same feeling... Kinda. Let's say I've got mixed feeling about this last attitude GWM are nowadays having.
I'm thinking, big part of the game is due to the toxicity of TikTok, which is based on trends. So what usually happen is that TikTok "suggest" some trends - often with awful music or weird audios - and people try their best - showing their worst - to shine there. (all right, I don't like TikTok lol)
Some trends start differently but the point is that in order to shine there, if some trendy videos are working everyone will try doing the same, resulting fake or poser at least.
It seems to me everyone is pretending there to be particularly brilliant - on every social actually - but even more on TikTok.
Beside of that, outside socials people is different, so my mixed feelings are starting here.
I've had a couple of chances to meet very nice girls by person having this axxhole personality on social.
For sure their attitude almost 10 years ago was different, from this point of view a little more genuine. It's also true that GWM were less "accepted" then nowadays, when actually it seems almost the opposite. Maybe we created monsters?! Lol
It can also be a sort of reaction, after being considered a sort of freaks, now muscular girls are taking the stage to affirm their right to look as the hell they want and to be strong.
Understandable, but for sure I'm not attracted anymore by most of them. I agree with those who prefer the next door girl with some casual muscles - maybe kinda shy about them - or girls still strong but involved into other sports. I've been in the gym in my past years and honestly in many cases it can be a toxic place.
Just one word about depression. Please don't think that rich people - I'm not one of them lol - can be immune by this terrible enemy. Depression is a real dark mtf beast that can take anyone for many different reasons. Having money or an apparently wonderful life does not mean anything. In some cases it can even be part of the depression reason if it's putting people under pressure. In any case I've been almost there but I was lucky to save myself from that, and trust me, it can take the most beatiful girls in the world, the richest people as much as the poorest or any other "normal" person you're considering happy.
I don't follow anyone on OF but social media does seem saturated with GVM relative to when I was a teenager. I used to be completely floored when I would see an image of a muscular girl, but the IG and Tiktok girls --for some reason-- just don't catch my attention or imagination. Seeing pictures of the BIG bodybuilders, like Andrea Shaw, still gets me excited, but not the IG girls. It's not an attitude thing --or at least, not only an attitude thing-- they are just too common, now. I never wanted GWM to be popular (call me a hipster, I enjoyed it being niche) and unfortunately they -are- now.
I follow a lot of ig girls. Some of them, like Amazonka, are there to be fantasy girls. Most of her posts are basically modelling. A few, like Anastasia Korableva, talk exclusively about their work in the gym -- no lingerie shots, no "Aren't I beautiful?" stuff. I suspect the latter have healthier egos, even if they get fewer followers.
Eh, while there are some cringe as fuck fitness influencers out there, there are many who are simply, well, having fun and enjoying life.
It’s not a big deal. Don’t like it? Find someone else.
