Chun-ri Kim in Physcial 100 - Netflix

Jan 18, 2023 - permalink

On Chun-ri Kim’s Instagram page there was a poster for an upcoming Netflix show, Physical 100, that appears to be some sort of Squid Game/Ninja Warrior adjacent reality show to find the fittest person around.

She seems to be featured quite prominently in the trailers, either being interviewed:

Or throwing around some of her unfortunate opponents:

Here’s hoping she is included extensively, as she clearly got into great shape for the competition, being listed at 77kg while still being shredded (although I always thought she was taller than 163cm).

I hope this airs on Netflix in the US!

Are most koreans soft spoken like this? Really cool show but only one guy was loud the others were so calm. 😂

Edit: oh man Chun-ri Kim is way taller and athletic than I realized she's able to really handle that guy in the trailer reminds me of china from WWE amazing!

The first few episodes of this show are on US Netflix now, for anyone interested. Lots of beautiful women involved! It's an elimination show...started with 100 of the "best physiques in the world" (well, the part of the world that is South Korea), and have different physical challenges (men and women all competing together) each episode until they eliminate it down to one remaining person. The very first challenge had all 100 participants hanging from a metal structure over a pool as long as they could until one winner was left.

Nice almost forgot about this thanks for the update. 👊

One of the most entertaining aspects for me was actually seeing the cultural differences from the US in dialogue when reading the subtitles. Like 10 minutes into hanging from the structure, with only a few people left who are all desperately struggling to hang on, one lady was still speaking in a very calm and polite voice and saying things like "Should I keep hanging on?" or "Maybe it's okay if I let go now?". If it was a US reality show I wouldn't have expected anything except screaming and maybe some cursing.

The decision to have mixed events is... interesting. Unless some of it is staged I'd expect these girls to be flung around like ragdolls by the men.

Obviously, places like this forum like to fantasise about muscular women dominating men but the reality is that the power differential is still enormous.

damn! chun ri got clowned on by a dude half her muscle mass. really puts into perspective the biological differences at play. props to chunri though, she put up a very good fight. now we cheer on for an da jeong!

That's the difference between size hypertrophy and fiber density hypertrophy. Muscle can be big, simply because there's fluid build up which swells them up. That's why Cross Fit athletes aren't super big, but they are strong as a horse. Cross Fitters muscle size is actually increased density, which increases the power output. More fibers, more output. Also neurology impacts it, because the more your neurons have grown out into the muscle, the more fibers you can activate.

She was against mma fighter. Zero chance since the grappling skills were world apart. He was humiliatingly playing with her.

I’ve been mostly skimming through it until an FBB is on the screen, I feel like An Da Jeong hasn’t been particularly featured so far? Hopefully she won’t be knocked out without being spotlighted as she definitely seemed like the second biggest girl after Chunri Kim.

That MMA fighter lost my respect the moment when he chose a woman. If a woman chose a man it would be ok, but on the contrary... physiological differences between men and women simply cannot be erased even if society pretends they don't exist. Of course, we can argue that the selection was fair because the competition allowed the man to choose the woman. But the rules of that show definitely do not correspond to my perception of honor and fair play. The disciplines of this competition are designed specifically to eliminate big, fat, heavy, muscular, women... in short, to eliminate all those whose bodies do not correspond to the "fitness average" and who do not have experience in fighting. Maybe the next disciplines will be more focused on strength, weight, etc. But these unique people won't be there anymore!

yeah waitwhat you're right, iv'e not seen much of an da jeong. prob cuz she cannot match up to chunri kim in exoticness and size. now that chunri is gone, we should see more of her since she's kind of next in line. i find her a lot more charming and cannot wait

That might be the whole point

The winner will be the owner of the best physique: Not too heavy, not too muscular, but not too thin either, a complete athlete that has a good performance on most, if not every field, that being speed, endurance, fighting, strength, and that’s far from bodybuilders like Chun-ri who focus on size and stuff

Why did they have to mix women with men? I don't want to see dudes, only ladies.

Feb 01, 2023 - permalink

Their show, their rules. Besides, ladies nowadays claim they can beat a man at anything, so let them prove it.

Because there are way more women interested in muscular men than there are men interested in muscular women. Netflix are just playing to their audience.

Muscular women are so rare they can't find 100 of them in Korea.
