Did a Musclegirl Motivate You To Lift

Dec 04, 2021 - permalink

I'm sure this hasn't been discussed much. Another reason to be thankful for all the females who build muscle and get strong, other than how hot they are, is, they motivate you. I for one was a skinny, fairly weak man until I met my ex-wife Sheryl. Her physically demanding job packed muscle onto her strong upper body. Being into muscles on girls since I was 7, I was head over heels in love with her, immediately. I have to be honest though, I didn't particularly like the fact that she was stronger than me. Just one of those stupid male ego things. Anyway, Sheryl lit a fire under my lazy butt and I've pumped iron ever since. As much as I love muscular women, I knew I needed to project a similar image to the women I was so attracted to. Anyone else out there get super motivated because of a strong, muscular girlfriend or wife?

There was a time around Dani Reardon's peak (2016) where she reignited a passion in me for working out. Mostly from her Youtube channel and vids from HDPhysiques.

i suppose i got into lifting because i thought it would help me get girls (in general) but also help me meet buff girls specifically. that wasn't true in college (lol). i met all of the buff girls after college and training with a few of them helped to get me fired up again. these days i'm still single and train alone for the moment so i'm kind of just doing it by myself though i'm still following a lot of women online. hoping that changes as things start to open up.

Kind of but I gave up because I got no results and I got a painful feeling if I worked out too much and it would not go away for days so I could not work out much despite me wanting to so that killed my motivation nowadays I try to do a few pushups against the wall but this has no real effect I dont know how these women get motivation to work out this much.

After being here for a short while, I'm not motivated to lift but do indeed feel the urge to shed the tyre. :D

Great question and there was no one specific person, but your comment about projecting a similar image is spot on. To me, it's only fair that I also work out if I truly appreciate the bodies of those do as well. Whether or not they are stronger than me wouldn't matter ;)

I've lifted on and off, my problem was I'd do good for a while then totally slack off.

I was super motivated last year though. There's a local FBB who before she lifted was in the hospital for a seizure and decided to get buff and she's done great since. It puts you on notice as a guy. Here's this woman who is super big and you're over there not doing anything, so what's the excuse?

It kind of did in a backhanded way. I used to be extremely out of shape, and seeing fitness models lift more than I did was a blow to my fragile male ego. I mean, there was a time when I couldn't a curl a 25 lbs dumbbell, and that's pretty standard for most of the girls on this site.

6 months of serious lifting in the gym and I got pretty strong, and no longer have that problem, thankfully.

@geronimo97...I'd rather not share her last name or mine. We do live in California but doubt that helps you much.

Nobody motivated us to start bodybuilding, we started lifting together just to get in shape. Seeing each other grow together however helps to motivate us to keep going.

@damagecontrol...you are indeed blessed to have a workout partner like that. I've been in relationships with women who joined the gym, to workout with me. As they gained muscle and saw the effect, their muscles had on me, it motivated them even more. Eventually, they quit though..and didn't even want me to go to the gym without them.

I've been weight training for over 54 years. I started young. My wife started serious weight training at 23 yo. We are now in our mid 60s. She has always been a motivator for me. She has always been quite naturally muscular. In the last 15 years her training has improved and in the last 1.5 years, I've been training her every day. Her lower body strength is incredible. On glute exercises, her SRM is between 88% and 90% of mine. On one machine we use the full stack and on the other we need to overload the machine by 120%. Makes me crazy that she is so close. Fellows in the gym walk away when they see what is happening. Her calves are more muscular than mine and her thighs are just shy of 90% of mine. I'm constantly motivated to push harder on leg day. Just to bench mark, I'm typically rated between advanced and elite for strength at strengthlevel.com BTW, we both come from an eastern European gene pool.

Weightlifting/bodybuilding is a unique sport/hobby in that you can be better at 50 than you were at 25.

With so many other things in decline, like eyesight or hair color, that aspect alone is motivating.

But yes, the idea of meeting more women in general was a motivator at a younger age. I'll mention that in 30+ years of going to the gym, I've probably seen 4-5 woman with physiques worth a second look.

I started lifting in 6th or 7th grade with a weight set my dad got me. I didn't know how to use it and there was no internet at the time. Magazines were no help because those articles expected you to already know the terminology. An older kid in the neighborhood showed me two movements, bicep curl and bench press, and I only did those every day after school using only the bar. When I was in 8th grade, the neighbor kid was impressed with my biceps and always wanted to arm-wrestle. He always won, but suggested I show off my muscles to the girls in class and arm-wrestle others. I beat all the girls, but there was one guy I couldn't beat. He even said I was difficult to pin down. 9th grade, the most difficult match that I won was against a girl who I underestimated.

I'm a lifetime natty, but continued to lift in high school and through college. Even had a few physical jobs in college. I didn't get into the bodybuilding scene until after college, but was very active on the DTV and HB forums. When I started going to competitions and expos, that's what kept me motivated.

I was once friends with Kelly Lynn Nauyokas for some time and I remember her telling me she could curl 35-40 pound dumbbells. I could barely curl 25s. Once I saw how it was possible to do more, I pushed myself to move up to that. I also thought a 14" bicep was fine for me (12" unflexed) but meeting more of these chicks just kept me motivated. Once I got to a 15" flexed bicep, Lisa Moordigian couldn't believe it and asked to see a pic for proof. I did and she was impressed. Once again, lifetime natty, only creatine and protein powder.

I lift mostly for myself and because I like it, but part of it is because women who lift tend to be attracted to fit people as well.

It’s why my number one piece of advice for men who want to go out with buff women is “get to lifting.” There’s a reason why the vast majority have fit partners

Can't say one did, but following enough got me motivated more just from seeeing the fitspo. Also yeah, when you're into gym bunnies you gotta go to the gym

Ludmilla Tourischeva (1968 - 1976, Summer Olympics, Gymnastics 5ft 4in) and Janet Lynn Nowicki (1972 Winter Olympics, Figure Skating 5ft 2in) were two olympic athletes that sealed my interest in muscular women during my early to mid teen years. In particular I was mesmerized by the muscularity of these gal's glutes and thighs. Ludmilla has a lower body and has more "cut" but in some of the photos, you can see how Janet's quads pop over he knee. Undoubtedly from the work on the legs that high-power skating produces. These days, Olympic athletes spend time in the weight room. Not so much for women in the 60's and early 70's. I started weight training when I was 11. These gals definitely stimulated me to lift harder and heavier. They looked strong and deep down I felt I had to be stronger.

I look at this and it reminds me why I lift. I'd over to look like him. But I'd also love to turn around and see her. Seeing FBBs and developing that love for muscle is a big part of why I lift.

No. Playing football and surviving a bad car accident does. Now, I am working to get back in that groove for several reasons; better health, I need a stress outlet badly, and I miss moving heavy stuff just for the sake of moving heavy stuff.

In high school I had a female friend that was like a tank. She never went to the gym, she was doing only bodyweight exercises, playing basketball and volleyball, carrying heavy stuff at home, etc. And with all of that she had very big arms, massive and full of muscle. Also her back was wide as well as her shoulders. And her legs were also killer. She wasn't tall tho, 165cm but 65kg! Her arms were exploding from every shirt she had. I have never seen her flexed. She was my motivation to start bodybuilding. When I got jacked she asked me to flex. I flexed and after that she flexed her biceps. She was still a rock hard, pretty close to me.
