How long do you think Anastasia Leonova have?

Sep 29, 2021 - permalink

The best description I read was in another sub, where someone said "she's a walking pharmacy at this point". So whats your opinion?

To be clear, I mean her career, not her life of course.

Strange question. What makes her different from any other FBB's who are "walking pharmacies?"

There is a lot of discussing about her in the forums, one of the most popular one in her category, has a lot of fans here, so I just picked her for the topic, no specific reason

If Anastasia has sponsors than she can last quite a while but if she doesn't have sponsors than her career won't last long as a bodybuilder. And besides there are some bodybuilding companies that are hesitant to have a female bodybuilder to represent them. So Anastasia chances are slim.

this may be the most ignorant question asked on this forum

Yea, her progress is extremely impressive but quite a bit shocking and definitely has quite a bit of health risks involved. The amount of pure muscle she has added and on top of that walking around with a stage level constant pump has me concerned, not going to lie.

Being ignorant, why is she any worse off than any other female bodybuilder? Did I miss something?

Anastasia is the toy and tool of her tattoo-face husband. He seems to have complete dominance and control over her and is, in part, using her to advance his own career. That is hardly the prescription of long-term success in female bodybuilding and THAT is what makes her different from other FBBs.

Wow.

I get why he'd ask. She's made fast progress, and the girls who progress fast don't usually last long. There was a whole thread on that I remember reading here sometime ago. Though, I think her husband's help is the difference.

Of course I am worried about the amount of PEDs Anastasia is taking (especially since she has grown so much in such a short ammount of time and doesn't look like she's stopping), but I think what will possibly turn her off of bodybuilding is her husband...

Now I obviously don't know their life together, they may be a very happy couple, but purely in comparing their social medias and the way the speak about eachother I feel Farnsworth is right in saying Anastasia is her husband's plaything.

Looking on Hafiz' instagram you only ever see him promoting the people he trains in a very belicose manner interspersed with comparisons of American bodybuilders and "his athletes". Whenever he speaks of Anastasia he rarely uses her name, instead calling her "his woman", "his girl", "his wife" etc. However even more than that he is incredibly quick to point out how she is the "new generation athlete" or "the one and only FBB queen" as well as how much more feminine, dry, muscular and young she is compared to American athletes.

Two very telling posts from Hafiz' are reaction to Anastasia's qualification to compete in this year's Olympia and the announcement that Anastasia won't be allowed at the Olympia due to not recieving a visa. In the first post Haliz mentions how Anastasia is the first Russian FBB to be invited to the Miss Olympia, and in the second post he says "Look at the level of YOUR athletes, favourites from the United States, everything those who win your SHOWS, they have no chance against My Wife. The only advantage you have is that you live in the USA...". Now pointing out how America-centric the the bodybuilding competition world is right and not new (Natalia Amazonka noted this aswell if I remember correctly) but the way Hafiz speaks about it aswell as the complete silence from Anastasia on the issue leads me to believe that it is Hafiz who is the most offended by this and feels as though the Ms Olympia title has been personally stolen from him... I mean his wife of course.

As I alluded to above, Anastasia's instagram is almost completely different, acting more like a blog or diary than a place to advertise. Most all of her posts fall into the categories of:

The captions of her photos show she doesn't really have the same air of arrogance and machismo that her husband has, and if anything seems quite kind and introspective as to what her goals are. I have checked all of her posts this year that have a photo of her and her husband and not one of them mentions him directly, instead drifting off to topics of setting goals, knowing your strengths and the importance of relaxation.

The only post of hers this year to speak about Hafiz is here.

Some important things to note: "Without you I never would have walked this path in my life", "I like to exercise, I like to eat, I like to take pictures, shoot videos... But the bodybuilding fan is [Hafiz]", "You don’t understand, since childhood he collected magazines, stickers, books, cassettes, posters... He knows all the performing athletes, he knows who posed to what music a million years ago, he knows who became what year, he knows the whole biography, all the trainings."

In essence I feel Hafiz is a man who is living his fantasies through Anastasia to some extent. He masks his control of Anastasia by claiming that winning the Ms Olympia is "our dream" and overexaggerates everyone as getting in his way or playing "dirty tricks". And of course he is more than happy to make a few rubles off of Anastasia too.

That being said I think Anastasia isn't a completely hapless maiden in this relationship. As I have quoted above she does enjoy excercise and modelling. Hafiz certainly gives her a lot of clothes to wear and I can't imagine she would continue training with him if she didn't want to be as huge as she is. For Hafiz, Anastasia is the fantasy cash cow he's likely dreamed about, and for Anastasia, Hafiz is the sugar daddy (protein daddy?) she needs to furfill her own lifestyle. Whilst I am sure they are content in this relationship for now I really don't believe this is a healthy relationship that can last. Either the PEDs will be too much and she will quit bodybuilding (but not necessarily fitness altogether) or she might lose one too many competitions and get thrown out of Hafiz's toy box.

But then again maybe this is all in my head ¯_(ツ)_/¯

P.S There is also this interview of Hafiz with Anastasia in the background I didn't really have a good place to put it in my comment so I'll just leave it here for you to reach your own conclusions.

I don't expect her to still be around on the BB scene 5 years from now. Regardless if it's due to finance, health, or just overall burn out from contest prep. I've learned from Shannon Courtney to just enjoy them while they're around and don't be concerned with longevity.

I'm a huge supporter of FBB's on the gear myself and honestly Anastasia blew her herself up on the gear and became huge really fast which is not good for the body. She won't make it to 5 years of more because steroids and HGH are powerful supplements that needs to be carefully taken as directed. She will go down the Shannon Courtney way soon.

I know that Anastasia's drive to please her husband likely and greatly outweighs her desire to excel as a female bodybuilder. I don't know anything about her, but I'm willing to bet that she comes from absolutely nothing and tattoo-face is filling her head with hopes and dreams that she could never muster on her own.

Those are just assumptions, you don't know Anastasia IRL and you can't read her mind soooo.

Grown women are capable of making their own choices, just because she took it to extreme levels doesn't mean she's a damsel in distress who's controlled by an abusive partner.

This is a good point that should be considered. Any analysis we have of Anastasia's relationships and life will ultimatly fall short of perfect due to our not knowing her personally. Whilst I reject that these are just "assumptions" given there is atleast a modecum of evidence to support this theory, it ultimatly doesn't really matter. I mean what are we going to do, fly to Russia and explain to Anastasia that her relationship seems problematic to us???

Likewise it is good to point out that Anastasia is infact an adult capable of rational thought, nor would I personally describe the relationship as being abusive based on the evidence we have.

I share Byrdie's point-of-view without the benefit of all his interesting and pertinent research. I've seen this type of pathologic relationship before and I know that Anastasia's drive to please her husband likely and greatly outweighs her desire to excel as a female bodybuilder. I don't know anything about her, but I'm willing to bet that she comes from absolutely nothing and tattoo-face is filling her head with hopes and dreams that she could never muster on her own.

It's a common and destructive dynamic.

I refer to Brydie's last sentence as the clue that tipped me off: in every single picture or video that shows the two of them together, there is ALWAYS a sense of subservience and dominance: she poses for him (as he lays in his bed); she dutifully poses for the camera at his command; she's entirely dependent on his mastery of the English language of while she has none. In many cases, she looks at him for approval before she does anything at all. He, and he alone, seems to represent her in words and actions.

I really don't think that we're reading deeply into this; it's seems plainly obvious.

Thank you for the kind words, I agree with the broad strokes of this arguement, especially the last paragraph.

However, I would interject about the notion that "Anastasia's drive to please her husband likely and greatly outweighs her desire to excel as a female bodybuilder". I believe Anastasia was a bodybuilder before she met Hafiz and as we can see in this video she's already quite alot bigger than the competition. Given that she is also 20 in this video I believe is a possible indicator that she already had a passion for fitness from an earlier age.

Whilst I agree that the "dream" of being Ms Olympia is likely moreso Hafiz' dream I don't think Anastasia is some kind of slave he is forcing to bulk up. Based on the evidenc I layed out in my original post I view there relationship as akin to a sugar daddy (Hafiz) and sugar baby (Anastasia). There is a very clear link between the female bodybuilding industry and sex work, be it in camming, personal sessions/meetups or as we can see in Anastasia and Hafiz, sugaring. As Farnsworth noted, the way that Anastasia dutifly poses at his command and is submissive to him (dessipte being possibly stronger than him) demonstrates a kind of dependance on him. That one video of Anastasia posing for him while he's in bed always felt very lap dance-esque to me, and given that that was posted to Hafiz' instagram it seems like a kind of macho way of showing of his command over her.

All of this considered however we must remember that sugaring is an exchange. Just as you provide your labour to your employer in exchange for a wage, a sugar baby exchanges romantic or sexual pleasure for the sugar daddy/mama's gifts and allowance. Through this framing I think we can see that Anastasia provides romantic pleasure for Hafiz (as she is his wife after all) in addition to her bodybuilding and marketability, in exchange for Hafiz' platform, money and all other kinds of gifts.

Of course sugaring is a voluntary exchange just as employment is, but sugaring quickly becomes coersive especially given the greater disparity in power between the baby and parent. Though sugar babies often do form some level of attraction to thier sugar daddy/mama this does not change the exploitative nature of the relation.

To set the story, it seems to me that Anastasia Leonova was a young woman with a love for fitness and an interest in bodybuilding. A seemingly natural talent for bodybuilding led her to win her first few competitions, but the costs of dieting, bulking and competing weighed on her greatly. This is compounded by the general decay of the Russian economy around the time of her starting bodybuilding, aswell as the shrinking amount of possibilities for women in Putin's Russia. However her success in her early competitions garners the attention of Hafiz Ali a bodybuilding coach eager to scout new talent. It is here that the sugar-like relationship begins. The vallidation of an older male authority (keep in mind Anastasia is only 24 this year) aswell as the patronage and allowance that Hafiz provides Anastasia is a massive change and I can imagine would have been intoxicating for Anastasia. Over the next few years Hafiz introduces Anastasia to a regiment of higher and higher doses of PEDs, playing on her love of fitness by introducing his own dream of an Olympia title for Russia and promoting it as their dream together. As Anastasia bulks up she becomes much more of a model and poster child of Hafiz' coaching aswell as now being his wife.

Where she is going to go now that she won't be attending the Ms Olympia this year is difficult to say. Perhaps this will shatter "our dream" as Hafiz puts it, maybe Anastasia will move on to some other sugar daddy coach that gives her a better exchange, maybe her body will just give out on her. I very much love the way Anastasia looks, and by reading her Instagram posts she seems kind as I have said before, but I am really not optimistic of her still competing past say around 2023 or 2024?

P.S "I share Byrdie's point-of-view without the benefit of all her interesting and pertinent research." fixed it for you ;)

She is short and she is young. Being short has advantages when you want to add mass, you need much less total pounds in order to give out the illusion of huge. This means shorter time frames and less drugs.

Being young with healthy internal organs offers support for tolerating harsher compounds as long as she curtails the dosages now that she is BB big. Many of her competition are middle aged women and most are older than her.

On the other hand, short athletes never win in BB and competing for no prizes while risking your health gets old quickly. Her husband though is getting some great publicity, maybe he tries to pull a Ricardo Pannain and she spares her of many more competitions.

Lance Armstrong, the cycling pharmacy, is still alive. I am not worried about Anastasia.
