Thinking Out Loud

Aug 25, 2021 - edited Aug 25, 2021 - permalink

In my opinion, top-bottom symmetry is overrated. Clearly the bottom-heavy "Brazilian" look is quite popular.

Yes i think this Brazilian oversized legs is a lil bit too much disbalance for my oppinion too , Ok most try to correct this with oversized plsic boobs but this ruins look more .

As pro dancer i have automaticly big legs because of job , so there was the need to get bogger on upper body for a good symetrie and fitness helped lot .

I find it funny when I hear someone go on and on about female bodybuilders and steroids yet you never hear them complaining endlessly about like Olympic athletes and what they're probably taking to the same degree. You know the type of person I mean? It's like they only care about it in so far as it changes their appearance. If it didn't do that, then it's like they wouldn't care.

I think it’s more ignorance about the prevalence of steroid use, along with the believing in the myth that the way you can tell that someone is on PEDs is if they look like Aleesha Young. They don’t realize that even the smallest bikini competitors are on them.

The prejudice that every on use something is just based on not knowing about the Sport and pictures of ffb that obviously use and it is easy to say.

Many think that all bb producs like Whey powders, Training booster, Protein , ddiet helper, fatburners and so on are roid based. Just stupid and not know. I talk about legal products to buy in normal sup Shops and Gyms not Sold in the dark backroom lol

Often meet someone (most fat ones who did losts of stupid diet trys or nö Training succes because of lazy) who says, your shape is not possible without helpers. Just because of knowing nothing, frustrated or dont have the will for serious Training Even as young and laen dancer before started fitness some idiots spelled things like this when see that there are some small muscles. One of the reason why didn't like to show muscles at young age, stupid i know 😳.

Realizd HATERS voices are the loudest but they are only few and not the puplic meaning most like a trained fit look

I can't stand haters, they can't just say "hey, it's not my thing" and move on. Oh no, they gotta go point by point why female bodybuilding is some kind of sin against nature or something. Sad to say my mom is the type to say to stuff like this and I'm like "um, err..." and don't say anything lol.

Oh yes, there was a visit from judokas from a japanese college, they were 3 young guys and same age female athlete plus the sensei. They were all in great shape as they compete. The girl was medium size, not at all thin, and she was kind of "chubbing", with her neck a little bit starting to show size with a bunch of healthy fat. And then I noticed everyone including the young sensei have that general chubbeness, like the same... same routine, similar genes and some other element, yes.

And our local sportpeople (I was really starting out, I couldnt even get a chance to wrestle), some seemed to train a lot and wasn't in that same level. So this people have some amazing preparation, nutrition and well, I guess some really state-of-the-art drugs.

I wonder how FBBs who are doctors don’t lose their medical licenses for using non-prescribed, and therefore illegal, steroids. Things that make you go hmmm…

The COVID vaccine has been a topic of hot debate, and I noticed that the vast majority of bodybuilders, strength athletes and other fitness personalities are very anti-vaccine. However, whether you’re pro-vaccine or against it, there is a lot of irony in that. The reason I say that is because, as has been discussed before, PED/steroid use is very, very prevalent in strength sports and bodybuilding. Given that these compounds are illegal in many places in the world, you can’t get them from a legitimate lab, and thus have to obtain them from underground labs (UGLs,) where there are no quality checks, no sanitization standards, and no way of really knowing if you’re getting legitimate or bunk product. For all you know, you could be getting stuff from a dude who makes it in a dirty bathtub. Being for or against the COVID vaccine is one thing, but I find it hilarious that these athletes are ok with injecting themselves with who knows what made in who knows where and by who knows who, while ranting on instagram or facebook about how the vaccine is “unsafe” and ‘experimental.”

Well said, and you're totally right. Most people who get PED's from "sources" have no idea where these drugs come from, and even less idea what's in them.

Not to mention, there's countless examples of fitness professionals dying from these substances. Far more than people who have been killed by the COVID shot.

I think there's a lot of anger and resentment in the fitness and bodybuilding community. Right or wrong, they were told that they were not "essential" and were locked out of their careers and hobbies. A lot of bodybuilders find all of their life meaning and community in gyms, and I'm sure it was absolutely horrible to be denied that. I believe that it drove many of them over to the anti-regulation and anti-vax side of the argument. There's no real logic to it.

I DO wish that some of this non-stop federal spending was sent to gyms and trainers. COVID isn't going anywhere, and (in general) the fitter you are, the better you'll handle it. There's a genuine community service towards helping people to get in shape and live a healthier life. It's way cheaper to let someone use a gym and a PT to stay active than it is to pay for their non-stop Type 2 diabetes treatments. Even the most baller personal trainer is less expensive than an Endocrinologist. Would be nice if these jobs were considered under the overall wellness aspect of insurance plans.

I'm thinking out loud whether there's enough time to make myself some popcorn before the vaccine posts trigger certain types of people into reacting in a small-minded way and then of course staff members, who have to moderate the ensuing mess

LOL yes, high chance of that happening.

From my side, you're not going to see me bother trying to convince anyone of the vaccine. I'm a strong believer in them and an early adopter, but my time is valuable and there's just no point. I only brought up the vaccine to discuss the perspectives in the fitness community.

I agree that there really needs to be a push towards healthier living, if you can.

I understand thT costs are rising and some people may not be able to swing fresh cooked food every week, but there’s a certain segment of the population that lives above their means and reining some of that in and redirecting toward food could be a huge help. You may have gotten the vaccine but the heart disease or double knee surgery or diabetes will get you anyway.

Part of the issue I see is that the biggest complainers point at the fitness industry as promoting “unrealistic body types”. I mean they are real, people are accomplishing them, but the fair point is that many are on steroids, and far more people than that will never look that way. HOWEVER—there are many natural casual bodybuilders or fitness enthusiasts who either managed to lose significant weight or build the body they wanted with a few years of consistency and discipline. One of the real issues is where you are willing to put your time and effort: if it’s not eating healthier or spending an hour less on the couch when you have down time, then it’s just an excuse.

An anecdote: my brother is VERY overweight. His wife is also overweight. He has complained for a few years about sleep apnea and mild back pain, and I’ve been encouraging him (and her) to go to the gym to maybe get on a machine or take a class or anything. She’s afraid of the gym because “she feels judged” (when I’ve explained to her many times that literally no one cares and they’re more likely rooting for you to accomplish your goals), and is a big proponent of body positivity, which is another stupid epidemic in this country. He doesn’t really do too much about it or for himself, and then they get in this feedback loop where they sit on the couch and snack. Then he can’t figure out why he’s prediabetic and she keeps on having joint issues.

It’s not that you look bad when your fat, it’s just that it in itself is a health concern that can avalanche into a slew of other things.

What a coincidence, I tweeted pretty much the same thought the other day. Great minds, I suppose.

Apropos of nothing, I see the competition much like the Oscars. None of the girls I want to win win. But I'm glad that women want to get huge to compete, So, I just enjoy people like Aleesha and her ilk that have a goal even though I know they won't win the top prize.

In a perfect world, the biggest FBB would win but it is what it is...but I don't pretend to care about the results of the competitions. As long as it keeps the big women getting bigger.

I've been wondering how many calories a typical FBB consumes daily. Maybe an average ~140-160lb'er. I always hear about male BB's consuming around 5,000-6,000 calories/day, and they're usually in 220-260lb range.

So now the divisions at bodybuilding competitions (for women, obviously) are:

  • Bikini
  • Figure
  • Wellness
  • Fitness
  • Physique
  • Bodybuilding

In just the past 2 or 3 years they've added in Wellness and Bodybuilding. What affect do you guys think this will have (or is having) on the other divisions? Is it sustainable? Are there too many? Will other divisions be absorbed or merged?

EDIT: Duplicate post above was deleted.

TBH I think they need one more division: womens classic.

WPD girls are starting to get big. If they don’t want to go the BB route that’s fine and could filter into a slightly smaller division with more old school lines and posing. I think womens physique should be sleek, muscular, athletic. Think Jodi Boam, Julia Monroe, Vanessa Naesheim.

IMO a wpd athlete should be able to compete in fitness and/or figure with a great chance of winning each division

Not counting all the others around the world. Off the top of my head: Fit Model, Bikini Fitness, Athletic Fitness, Athletic Figure, Classic Bodybuilding...the list goes on for about 2-3 more sub-sub-divisions.

  • TBH I think they need one more division: womens classic.

There's already Classic FBB at least in Russia - Tamila Sadulaeva competed there.

. But this division wouldn't allow US Physique competitors - they would get sent straight to "Common" FBB.

I've always hated the jewel'd up bikinis the women wear in the competitions. I hated them even more after I found out they can cost as much as an Apple laptop. As if women don't have enough expenses to worry about in prep. You don't see the guys having to wear jewel'd up jock straps. What's the benefit? Not a damn thing that make-up and a hair stylists didn't already accomplish.

The jewel'd up bikinis look like their made out of candy. This is more than enough to get the job done.

This might be a little bit biased because I am active in the fitness community and train in Crossfit, but I really think guys who are attracted to muscular women should get into fitness themselves and also get involved the fitness community, even if it's only for a short while

I say this because there is a lot of misconceptions out there about women who train in strength sports: whether it's their training, their PED regimes or their motivations. I think this lack of knowledge and experience leads up to the "schmoey" behavior towards those women that they despise. Again, let me clarify that I think there's nothing wrong with a fetish (I mean, I am on this site as well!,) but the way that some dudes interact with these ladies (the constant "do you beat up smaller guys!" as an example) shows that they never have been around fit women or in environments that they frequent. I fully admit that in my younger (late teens to mid 20s) I was very much a stereotypical socially inept schmoe, but with age, along with getting involved in fitness myself and meeting other people in my city, my social skills improved and I gained an understanding through personal experience that helped me relate to those women in a better way. And before anyone says "but fit guys can be creeps too!", I am fully aware that there are exceptions to the rule, but in my experience with seeing the kinds of messages fit female friends of mine get, along with observing "schmoe" behavior at competitions and conventions/expos, the vast majority of them look like they aren't into fitness at all. I know that sounds shallow, but again, that is from what I have seen.

Plus, every couple months or so we get the question of "how do I date muscular women? Where do I meet them?" In addition to getting a better understanding of women who lift, the best thing about getting into your local fitness community is that that is the BEST chance of you meeting someone that you are attracted to. There is a reason why most women who lift date men who lift, and it isn't just because of the way they look.

I find it fascinating how the categories in bodybuilding keep shifting.

Bodybuilders from the early 1980s look like bikini girls from the early 2000s Bodybuilders from the mid 80s look like Fitness girls from the mid 90s.

And the list goes on. Now even bikini fitness competitors are as conditioned as Fitness competitors were in the 90s during the heyday of fitness.

Most figure competitors now are more muscular than bodybuilders of the 90s.

They introduced physique class for women who don't want to get that big, but today's physique competitors would easily fit in the bodybuilding category from those days.

I don't necessarily see this as a good thing as I think this phenomenon is what caused female bodybuilding to go more and more fringe. Until the mid 90s female bodybuilding was regularly televised and a big fuss was made about it. But I think the last time I saw even a fitness competition on TV was in 2003.

I agree that their should be a women’s classic. Better yet, I’d just take the figure category and turn it into that. It’d be more interesting than just seeing quarter turns.
