I think it had its time to be popular and it peaked I was not born/young but I remember how ESPN had the bodybuilding completions and even Wrestling had Bodybuilders like Chyna and Bass and the fitness workout like actually muscular working out segments on and the Gladiators game show and WPW and everything. I’m thinking it peaked from 80s-early 2000s and then idk what happened I’m thinking the increased size away from the more fit aerobic model-esque look from the late 80s/early 90s era to the transition in the mid 2000s to being pumped all over scared casuals and advertisers away?
Truth be told there’s a sort of resurgence with social media and everything. Women like showing off their muscle and the pictures they show and the fact that everybody likes and admired them shows that people still admire the process and the outcome. And like the guys said before She Hulk will probably bring shine back to the process of bodybuilding
How do you want to behold bodybuilding? As a healthy sport? As the freak show? As an erotic/sexuell attraction? As a lifestyle that has nothing to do with freaks or sexuality?
There are so many different views. Actually I'm with those who claim that women's bodybuilding will never be popular.
Right now, there are lots of different girls with different approaches: Cindy Landold serves different fans than Amazonka. Iris Kyle serves different fans than Sarah Backman.
Every of these girls is popular in her own field. I might guess that's the maximum you can reach speaking about women's bodybuilding.
Let's see how the Disney+ she hulk will be. She Hulk is bound to have muscles. It's a marvel hero with the power of Disney behind it. It should reach a massive audience. If the reaction is positive then it could be a big step forward for female muscle
This is exactly right. It's the closest we'll get to a female bodybuilder in widespread media with her own show on a platform that everyone I know uses. Will they play it safe? Probably. But it's a HUGE step. And most marvel fans will eat up any media they put out. There's some behind the scenes photos out and I believe they have a stunt girl playing the transformed character with likely some CG. She's pretty fit but not huge. Probably figure level or slightly higher? Say what you will about Disney but they do influence what people are interested in.

Do you have a link to those photos?
Like I said earlier, more women are working out to be buff but formal FBB will never be popular. However, buff women would get a lot of validation if, for example, the SI swimsuit issue included a few buff women or even a dedicated issue. As for She Hulk, that will likely all be CGI just like regular Hulk.
I'm almost certain that She Hulk will be at most, as big as a Crossfit athlete.
Frankly, we will be lucky if she's as big as a Crossfitter.
Female bodybuilding (bikini, figure, physique, bodybuilding) might become more popular as a niche thanks to social media, but I don't see it ever becoming mainstream. It's seen as a form of narcissism/mental illness by most normals. And then there's drug use. And out in the real world genuine female bodybuilding women are still extremely rare; it will take a long time before we notice any change.
Having more women picking up weights to get buff will help though. Some of them will discover that growing their muscles turns them on and develop an addiction. They'll have to get hooked on lifting weights before they consider competing and/or training with PEDs.
Just make a Netflix series based on the Amazon tribe and cast Crossfitters in all the roles
That'd be more likely to be on HBO Max if we're talking the Amazons from Wonder Woman. Also, it was announced sometime ago that they would get their own movie.
Brooke has about as much acting chops as a wooden board, but IDk if WB particularly cares about talent lol
If the woman above is the look for She-Hulk....well that's fine. She Hulk right now is huge and bulky, but in the past has been fit and normal looking. I have no clue if she's stronger now than she was before the look changed...but she's also closer to Hulk in terms of ability to string together a complete sentence.
Despite how liberal the grunts in Hollywood are, the leadership is comically conservative for these types of things. Like many of us, I find it pretty laughable when a twig of a woman is beating the tar out of trained men, and if it not for extremely competence and skill it would be completely unbelievable. Jessica Biel was a nice step but she wasn't the best actress (but pretty good). But as soon as her shoulders and traps started growing hereeee came the comments. Heck, look at how impressed people were with Michelle Obama's arms...like if her photos were posted here they would be removed for not enough visibly muscularity. The threshold for the regular populace is pretty dang low.
Unless it was stated specifically she's playing She-Hulk's muscular body double, it might make more sense if she's Titania's muscular body double, seeing as they hired Jameela Jamil for the role
Oh true now that I'm looking at her, she looks more like this double.
nor fbb nor physique is mainstream, i love those women but they are considered freaks..hell even most figure girls are seen as huge by "normal" people. thing is they will always be seen as freaks, just bikini division is the excpetion. sure figure girls are more mainstream but still niche. women's bbong (depends on division) will never be popular
Although I would like to see She-Hulk as "muscular but feminine" instead of "athletic", I'm afraid if they go for a "muscular" look they may need to make her all CGI which would create Uncanny Valley issues.
I'm sure either way they're going all CGI like with Hulk.
They really don’t need to. Half the time she just looks like a figure competitor. The current iteration is more hulk like but often she is just green, a bit jacked, hot, and still doing her lawyer thing despite being green
True, but the actress they got isn't tall or fit-looking. So they'll most likely have her perform motion capture, and then create the CGI She-Hulk with less exaggerated proportions. Probably something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fakND2qAy10&a...

What are BBLs?
