Both of you are so right about society the norms that weak and feeble women are helpless and need a man is complete nonsense. Women did all sort of jobs in both world wars, the strong powerful woman is a thing of beauty!šŖ
What's specifically attractive about them is probably going to be slightly different for each person, made clear by the fact that most people don't find muscular women attractive at all to begin with. Most straight men at least tend to appreciate some level of muscularity in women as long as it doesn't go past the stereotypical female figure. Big glutes, defined abs, toned legs, are all muscular attributes that most would find attractive up to some degree (probably even more than the fashion model skinny look), usually the limit being where they start looking "too masculine", which quite subjective. In my case I go in that same direction, but I don't perceive extremely muscular women as looking masculine in most cases, so the more developed a female physique is the better it looks for me.
The strength that comes with it, and also the amount of effort and dedication needed to achieve it are big factors for me too.
(1) Muscular women defy what society deems the norm
I really appreciate that some women are willing to go there, but I couldn't care less whether they're defying social norms in terms of attractiveness, I just find them appealing for how they look. If the social norm was upside down, and skinny women were the norm-defying exception, I would still prefer the muscular type (heck, I'd love to live in that world).
(2) They are confident and it shows
Confidence is attractive, sure, but it's also beside the point for me, I would be attracted to a shy muscular woman all the same.
(3) They are visually stunning
Couldn't agree more.
I think they appeal to some primitive instinct or part of the brain. Big, strong women would be good for day to day survival, child bearing, food gathering and fighting.

I agree. And I think that's the reason that muscular women are more appreciated that most men let on. In other words, guys say they don't like them, but deep down they really do.
I fully agree that appeal for muscular women may have an evolutionary basis. Imagine 20000 years ago, women needed to be strong enough to hunt, defend their families and home, travel distances on foot across varied terrain and withstand harsh weather. The most muscular men and women mated, had babies and likely led the clan, the alphas. I believe muscular women actually have broad appeal but most people are not secure enough to admit this.
Maybe others notice but the women I'm around don't ego lift. I used to train with someone who had very visible and trackable progress over a couple of years and it was incremental, but I guess seeing her frequently made me miss a lot of the changes, and it seemed, suddenly, she was yolked.
One of the things that drove me nuts was that during that time she started whipping me in (crossfit) workouts. I won maybe 30-35% of the workouts when the workouts favored stuff I was good at, but she would beat me anywhere between a few seconds to a couple minutes. On a few occasions it was a FEW minutes, and a couple of times I didn't finish the workout at all and she finished with time to spare. Not only that, for a while she was doing workouts at women's advanced weight, which was the regular weight for me, and she was finishing ahead of every other guy in the gym that did the same weight, in most workouts. It sucked to lose but her mental fortitude and physical strength were just eye opening for me.
Another thing that I liked, and this is a result of everything above, it got to a point that i could predict her workout time within a few seconds because all of her movements were identical. I knew how long each set would take for her because she wouldn't take excess rest, etc. Just a small thing that really was attractive.
Society has moved on a bit on the acceptance of that female muscle with the USA and UK gladiator shows will have helped in that regard. Now women do sports boxing Mma Crossfit etc. Women have changed that much when was I boy which was a very long time ago a 30 year old was past it + had hairy Leg's yuck now you have Women in 50s 60s 70s have great bodies which would unthinkable at one time.
Good points pilaf on luvembuff's original great take. I particularly agree with your point on the confidence take. I've known both ultra confident and very shy (to start with at least), muscular women and you're right, it doesn't matter one bit to me. And why doesn't it matter, I ask myself? I think because of point #3... it is because regardless of everything else, they are Visually Stunning!
I suppose each of our opinions would vary based on our age and experiences with a muscular female. I'm older guy, who grew up when seeing muscular females was very rare. Here are some of my reasons, age influenced.(1) Muscular women defy what society deems the norm. They are strong instead of weak. (2) They are confident and it shows, in every facet of their makeup.(3) They are visually stunning. Everyone thinks of an athletic, muscular man as attractive, a muscular woman should be viewed the same or even moreso because she's a rarer specimen. (4) For the lucky among us who have enjoyed intimacy with a muscular woman, or even just had the pleasure of feeling a woman's biceps or calves, etc, the feeling of such hard, developed muscle, surging under a woman's soft skin, is beyond words. It takes my breath away. It is so erotic. I feel very lucky to find femuscle so beautiful. Is it elusive, you bet it is. But when you find it...you've hit the jackpot!!
