Should some physique competitors consider transitioning to bodybuilding

If you've watched this interview, you probably remember, at the very end, Andrea Shaw stating that physique competitors are way too big for the division and should move up to bodybuilding.

Just wondering what thoughts were about this. Are there physique competitors who should move up, should none of them move, or any other thoughts.

Natalia, Ivie, Valentina, Sarah V., Anne M. all come to mind as possible movers...

theres going to be a little bit of a vaccuum as some of the women get older. Janeen Lankowski comes to mind, who still looks great but how long will she continue with Margie and Andrea and some of the others?

Brooke Walker comes to mind, lately shes become such a lil beefcake, whatever shes doing I'm loving it

The physique girls have gotten huge. Andrea is right, it probably is time for more of them to move into bodybuilding (and get even bigger). One thing that's probably keeping a lot from making the leap is that their lower bodies haven't kept up with their upper bodies. Anne Mohn and Ivie have bodybuilder-sized upper bodies but their legs and glutes aren't there yet.

Even figure competitors (Ivana Ivusic, Sara Kinnvik ) are starting to get massive. It's great.

Laura is definitely big enough to do bodybuilding.

And speaking of Brooke Walker - can you imagine her on the same supplement regimen as Andrea and Margie? Hubba Hubba.

Carli Terepka, Brooke Walker, Kayleigh Padilla should all move into bodybuilding division personally speaking. Brooke will be the next Andrea Shaw

Meh. Mass creep is such a problem. Today's figure is basically 1980's bodybuilding.

I blame the increasing prevalence of steroids. You basically need to take unhealthy levels even if your genetics are perfect.

These are figure competitors now, it's crazy:

I hope Brooke becomes the next Andrea Shaw. That is going to be amazing to watch.

Figure girls have turned into bodybuilders. Physique has turned into middle-weight bodybuilding. Bodybuilding is still bodybuilding, but it's now heavy-weight only.

so many of them get to a peak and then feel they need to back it off. I get that. But why not shoot for Olympia for a couple years at least?? I think Brooke could win it all.

In complete agreement. Look at this potential

I think her and Stephanie Flesher are the ones who impress me most lately.

i don't think anyone of them would put on that kind of mass, but i would love there to be a classic division where they scrap the dumb physique poses and do regular bodybuilding poses.

Right now the IFBB pro girls will tell you that to win you gotta train offseasons as if you are competing one category larger than you are. So already figure girls are lifting like physique competitors and so on. Then they cut cut cut and are left with that winning x frame. At least that's the way the sport is now

Side note- Electricave, you're all right ya know that?

Girls like Ivana Ivusic could easily take a year or two off from competing and build enough mass for bodybuilding. She's super beefy compared to figure competitors of yore.

Not even remotely true. Figure athletes are huge and make 80s FBB look like novices

Steroid protocols have been perfected over the last 35 years. Some bikini competitors are better conditioned than the bodybuilders of the past.

Huh. I pretty much threw that sentence out there to prove a point, but looking at it beyond a surface level, you're absolutely right.

There are steroids in development that are 129x more powerful than testosterone. I wonder just how much further this mass creep will continue.

Wow. I cannot wait to see these women on them.

Goodness I hope not. Imagine how virilizing it would be. May as well take Tren, which as far as I know very few women take.

I kind of wonder just how far we can push athletic achievement and development. Kind of like how running a sub 4:00 mile was unheard of, and now you have elite runners running 4:40 miles in the marathon (26.2 miles!)

The steroids are getting more powerful, but how much will that affect the athletes who take them? When will the body cap out?
