Celebrity Schmoes?

[deleted]

I know Jean Claude van Damme is married to Gladys Portugues, so I'd wager he's probably the most famous one.

You guys know of any others?

Why would Jean Claude be considered a "schmoe?" He is an athlete himself.

Not the definition generally accepted by fans of FBB. Schmoe is anyone who likes FBB in this context.

What "context" is that? Online dictionary defines "schmo (schmoe = plural)" as a foolish, stupid, boring person; a dolt or a jerk.

I don't care what the online dictionary says. It's generally accepted that schmoe is a term used to describe fans of FBBs. Been that way for 15+ years.

real_iluv is technically right. But I wouldn't think for a second female bodybuilders didn't choose the word schmoe to describe their fans on purpose after reading it's dictionary definition. FBBs are stuck in a tough catch 22. The kind of men they attract they don't like. They think these dude's are schmoes. The guys they like think they are gross or look men.

All that being said, I would rephrase the question as: Are there any celebrities that like muscular woman.

"Generally accepted" by who? What happened before 15 years ago? How do you define "fan?"

If you were to look for actual "schmoes," you perhaps can find them in these categories, based on comments on photos.

1) grow bigger 2) please beat me up 3) can you outlift your boyfriend? 4) those who drool over pictures of Natalia Trukhina, Paige D., and similar 5) variations on these themes

@larry: perhaps even better to word it as "fit and muscular women."

I didn't want this thread to be about semantics. Maybe I should've phrased it "fans of muscular women" or something

I have always heard "Schmoes" in the context of being a stupid person, and any other definition out there is a rather idiosyncratic definition not supported by conventional usage.

So, I am not surprised you had this reaction.

I suspect Michael Crichton (of Jurassic Park fame) was one. Most of his female leads are athletic hardbodies, and the one in Sphere is a full scale bodybuilder. The other characters nickname her "Mother Nature with muscles."

can't find the schmoe video on RX muscle. Someone has the link ?

I have to agree with Steeltrinity. I have always thought that Crichton was "one if us". In The Lost World movie, there is a scene where Ian Malcolm and Sarah Harding are in a trailer that the t-rexs push over a cliff. Malcolm has to climb up through the dangling trailer with Harding on his back. In the book, it was Sarah who made the climb with an injured Malcom on HER back. :)

Just looked this up.

I didn't realize how hott she was. Holy crap.

Gladys was one of the most beautiful FBBs ever. In her 60's now, but still a very attractive woman.

Okay I just checked imdb for "Sphere".

It lists 3 actresses in the cast: Sharon Stone, Queen Latifah, and Marga Gomez.

Which one are you referring to? Because none of those three strike me as being a full-on bodybuilder...

^ Sharon Stone's character but only in the book, not the movie. Although Sharon was ripped as fuck in Total Recall

Thank you, [deleted].

I much preferred Rachel Ticotin in "Total Recall".

A schmoe, as I've always understood it, isn't just a guy who is attracted to muscular women. It's a guy who spends his money on making contact and being in the orbit of the women, whether that means doing sessions, flying to shows, doing meet and greets, and just being hangers-on in any or all forms.

It probably would have been a better path into the thread for the OP to not use the word. Now that we all understand where he's coming from, carry on.

Yes, Crichton wrote an FBB character into his book Sphere, but the character was not portrayed as such in the movie. Remember, Hollywood does not always see things as we do. :(

How about Robert Wagner? He had a few run ins with strong females over the years. Tanya Lemani in It Takes a Thief. Martine Beswick I think that was also It Takes a Thief. Then there was the bodybuilder episode of Hart to Hart. Guest starred Frank Zane and Susie Green. But it all leads me to believe that Wagner had a thing for strong women.

Hey, I just saw that episode of Hart to Hart again this evening. :)

The meaning of "schmoe" in this subculture is idiosyncratic. You're not going to find muscle-worship in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Moreover, a schmoe is not necessarily attracted to musuclar women. Plenty of Schmoes -- possibly even a majority -- pay to worship hyper-muscular male bodybuilders.
