Help me design a new tags system

Providing a name surely increases the quality of the upload-- I've always thought the site could reinforce incentives to provide a name with something like increased allowable uploads or something similar. I know I'm off topic here though.

Please add an 'Obliques' and 'Stomach vacuum' Tag

I would suggest "Huge' and "Strength" as tags that would fit some.

If we allow any number of tags, but the tags are all hidden by default on a photo. Maybe instead of showing users to browse through a list of tags they can search, similar to how the search for users works. Most popular tags are available to browse through somewhere.

Question - not sure whether already answered, but are you updating the software to allow us to search images via tag?

Playing "devil's advocate," I'll gently disagree with Zig. "Huge" is highly subjective. "Strength" generally isn't known, unless the observer knows the model, or it's clear how much is being lifted. But, strength makes more sense than huge.

You can already do this if you go to https://www.girlswithmuscle.com/images/ then click "Advanced Search" then "filter by tags".

I'd assume strength is short for feats of strength where the feat is clearly out of ordinary. Like I'd definitely add "strength" to this video.

Chainer, Could you tell us the ranking between the tags used in this website?

Ranking? What do you mean? I don't think tags are ranked in any way.

An idea to introduce new tags would be a forum thread with ideas and then a poll where users can vote and mods taking the final decision.

The most popular tags are introduced to the list

Or the could be a yes/no poll for example: Should "Obliques" be a tag? Yes/No

Also if you can sort pictures that have NO tags, users can "do the work" and add tags to them

"Curvy," "Off-season," and "Thick." Maybe these are synonyms.

A "vintage" tag for scans or copies of classic FBBs before the year 2000 would be great!

I'd humbly suggest that using the comment text keyword search solves a lot of issues like "huge" or "tall". Don't overcomplicate the site. In many ways, the appeal of this site is it's simplicit and and lack of gimmicky.

Chaîner, by ranking I wanted to know if you're able to see statistics about the tags already present chosen by everybody when they publish a picture. Is their a lot of people who tags "lift and carry" "gymnast" or "athlete"? What is the tag the most chosen? Like that we can remove the 3-4 tags more useless and find substitutes.

Oh boy. This is a tough one. I think users should be permitted to enter their own tags, in conjunction with the following:

  1. A blacklist would need to be maintained, to prevent derogatory words and spam.

  2. Only words from the English dictionary would be allowed, letters only. A limit of 3-4 words per tag or so would be placed. Tags would be case insensitive, and automatically convert to lowercase.

  3. Periodic cleanup sweeps should be done, to remove tags that too infrequently entered. E.g. remove tags automatically that have not been entered more than 3 times per week, averaged over 3 months. This is also a good time to reindex, depending on how you implemented the database.

  4. A function to search by tag would list the most to least common tags, to allow for user defined tags to easily be adopted.

  5. The search bar should make search by tags somewhat more accessible. Tags would be delimited by commas, and automatically convert to a boxed glyph to indicate a combination of words is being treated as one tag.

Have the "new" divisions been mentioned already? "Bikini - Physique" and such? There are quite a lot more (Athletic/Trained/Toned Figure, Bodyfitness, Fit Model, Bikini Fitness, Classic Fbb and so...), but at least those two could be added, since they nail bodytypes.

Definitely "transformation"

It's really a shame there isn't any default way for an image to "determine a set of tags" brought on by the image -- like, for example, someone uploads a photo of an unknown woman posing for a selfie; by default, the algorithm would set the image with what is most prominently featured like abs, biceps, shoulder/lats, veins (if visible) and so on.

I find it very inconvenient to browse around to see so many untagged photos of our models and they just get lost and shuffled in the plethora of repeated uploads and tabs of underappreciated stock.

Could there be a tag for "unknown?"

That way, someone could upload a photo of an FBB they didn't know the name of (and perhaps not get any credit for it), and someone else who's bored could go to the "unknown" section at some point and name the person and receive full credit for it...

There is a tab separated for ones without names and/or without tags.

Feb 25, 2021 - edited Feb 25, 2021 - permalink

A few random thoughts on tagging: Tags tend to fall into three main categories, like ... a) Muscle groups: abs, biceps, delts, etc.(including the 'overall physique' catchall for when more muscle groups are displayed than the five-tag limit allows). b) Activities: working out, armwrestling, lift-and-carry etc.(I guess 'body comparison' fits in here as well.) c) Descriptors: athlete, gymnast, bodybuilder, figure-fitness, etc (with 'teen' as an odd-one-out; the 'casual' tag was, IIRC, introduced as a book-end to 'glamour', which latter was dropped.) When I'm tagging, I tend to prioritise 'muscle groups', because those are the search categories I use most. Shame that it would probably be too cumbersome to separate these categories into their individual blocks ...

i think at the very least, a brief description of each tag and general guidelines should be maybe in a tooltip or a sidebar somewhere on the tag edit menu.

Never noticed that before. Thanks....

Unfortunately, that still doesn't address the concept of penalizing those who upload on a consistent basis without identifying the person, and/or giving credit to those who do finally identify our mystery gal in question.
