In the 90s and earlier, bb achieved their goals on a high carb, low fat and moderate protein diet. And they looked as good if not better than many of the bbs of today. Protein intake today is much higher but that extra protein not used efficiently to convert to muscle. Of course there are also PEDs which are the great equalizer.
